2012 Year in Review: The Highlights

A year's worth of (both our) medals on our awesome medal rack B.o.B had made for us by Iron Sport Works

Just thinking of this run still makes me so happy!
March: 50.85 M - Ran a whole 5k and started the great #onesizedoesnotfitall race shirt debate and you all responded with tons of ill-fitting shirts as examples. Race directors, feel our pain!
April: 77 M - Got to cross a run in Central Park off my bucket list and raced my first 5k; not only did I get over a 1 min PR, but came in first female overall!

Still my fav shot!
August: 100 M - Bachelorette parties galore! One here in Michigan and one with the Florida gang! Way too much fun was had.
September: 87 M - Spectating/pacing Spike in his 50 miler and running a 12+ min PR at the CCRR Half!

*Le Sigh* Can we please go back, right now?
December: 95 M - Base training once again for my return to the marathon distance.
Running Total for 2012 = 747± M - A far cry from 2008, 2009 (1,058 M) and 2010 (1,046 M) but significantly better than 2011 (327 M) and all it's injury. All together I ended up running (5) 5k's, (4) 10k's, (1) 10 Miler, and (1) Half Marathon for the year and PR'd in every distance.
My one and only goal for 2012 was: Run happy and healthy. I planned my comeback very conservatively to ward off injuries and I think I accomplished that and then some given the PR spree I went on after I found my legs again. I couldn't be more happy with how the year played out and was truly grateful for every step.
Looking Ahead, 2013
Last year I kept my goals simple and it paid off so I think I'll keep it simple again: run happy and healthy with an added goal of finally seeing the "Start" and "Finish" line of my third marathon. With this being my third attempt at it, I think I'm due for total domination, right? Glass City, I'm coming for you! T-Minus 17 weeks!
As always, before I end this post I just want to extend a big, bold, THANK YOU for following along for another year and through the wedding madness when my posting really fell off. With the coming year and marathon training I hope to get back at it more often and reconnect with all my favorite runnerds along the way. Cheers to a New Year and endless possibilities (and miles).
How'd your 2012 shape up?!?!

I love that medal rack!!!! Glass City is supposed to be a good race! Excited to see you crush your third marathon :)
Nice! Running Toledo! I was going to do the half in 2011 but had an injury and dropped to the 5K. It's hit or miss on the weather when that race is. I know folks who have done the full and I guess it's a pretty easy going course but not much to look at. Good luck!
Well that was a pretty awesome year if I do say so. Im DYING to see your wedding pictures!!! Everything you have shown so far has been amazing!
You had a magnificent year! Congrats! Can't wait to read all about your Marathon training!
I have to say, I'm pretty frustrated for you to not have your wedding pictures yet. As a newer photographer, I think that 6 weeks would be PLENTY of time for your turnaround on wedding pictures - for a BUSY photographer (I'm not busy, so I have a disc to clients within a week).
I just want to see these pictures!!!
Glass City chick, Glass Glass City chick. (Tell me you know that song.)
YAY BOO! This is your marathon year! I can feel it!
So glad that 2012 was such a happy, positive year for you. Hoping 2013 brings more of the same!
What an amazing year. Here's to 2013 being just as grand!!
Can I tell you how happy it makes me that 2012 included so much running for you? THIS HAPPY. xo.
That medal rack is so awesome! You had a fantastic year all around & it was so fun to spectate part of RBR with you. It made being there in my boot a little more bearable.
Best of luck in 2013 - I'm sure you will rock it!
You had a great 2012! And that medal rack is awesome! I have no doubt that you'll get to the finish line of your marathon this year.
What an awesome year!
BTW - Flat Bart is still on our fridge ;)
Can't believe you are still waiting on the wedding photos!!
Love that medal rack, I'm going to try and create my own and if that becomes an epic fail I am totally checking these people out :)
Everything was coming up RED last year. Congrats on many successes and have an awesome 2013!!
The most memorable and my fav post from your blog was the one on Spike's proposal. Happy New Year! And I'm sure 2013 will be equally as awesome for you two.
Your 2012 was brilliant - loved watching it on Facebook (thank goodness we're friends on there because I fell off the blogging planet for a year and a half). Isn't it amazing how you can come back from injury and PR? I did that too a while back, I think it goes to show how amazing strength training is! Anyway, can't wait to follow you in 2013!
YAY running. Love that medal holder - pretty sweet! 2013 will bring many more miles (and speed) for you, no doubt!
I miss Paris so much! I think plans are slowly starting to form for a return trip with my study abroad girls. I hope it pans out!! I actually lived about 2 blocks from the Arc de Triomphe. I used that metro stop every day. Sigh. And no worries about the giveaway--I still owe Jessie C. a shirt from like 2 years ago. I'm the worst!
Congrats on a truly unforgettable 2012!
