November Recap/Stats

Hello! Remember me? I trust everyone had wonderful Thanksgiving's, I know we sure did, and to all of you fighting the plague that's going around I'm sending you virtual wellness!!! So what have I been up to since I went MIA you ask? Well, check it out:

Miles Ran: 55± M Meh.

Rest Days: 19 (No thanks to contracting the plague myself!)

Races: Turkey Trot 10k (With LPT!!! Woo! Too bad it was a TOTAL clusterf*ck, WTH Detroit?!?!) & Fantasy 5k (1st AG and second fastest 5k ever! 21:53)

I love her.
Favorite Run: The eight miler Spike and I went on a few weeks ago when we hit up a Metropark we hadn't run before; it was the perfect kind of sunny, chilly day you cherish in the winter months.

Paintings Completed: Just one, this commission for a turtle loving coworker, but I hope to get back at it again in December.

Current Reads: (Reading) A Storm of Swords: Book 3 of the Game of Thrones series and I'm still hooked. I spent the whole of being sick and most of Thanksgiving weekend wrapped up with this book. I'm probably overly excited for my flight tonight so I can get a few uninterrupted hours of reading more. LOL!

(Listening to) The White Queen by Phillipa Gregory; "
Elizabeth Woodville, a woman of extraordinary beauty and ambition, secretly marries the newly crowned boy king of England. While she rises to the demands of her exalted position and fights for the success of her family, her two sons become the central figures in a famous unsolved mystery that has confounded historians for centuries: the lost princes in the Tower of London." I must admit that I love a good Phillipa Gregory book now and then and when I saw this on the shelf at the library I decided to indulge since it's been awhile.

(Finished) A Clash of Kings: Sooooooooooo good AND Sun Runner and I have been watching two episodes of the HBO series each week to get caught up. I'm really amazed at what a good job they did with both the casting and how well they keep to the actual story.

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides; This was honestly one of the best books I've read in awhile. It was so fascinating and well written that I was sad it ended.

Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure:
Read my girl BoB's most recent post.

Current Obsession: See "Current Read" above.

Current Song: "Too Close" - Alex Clare

Current Wish-List: We'll pretend this is my Christmas list m'kay? (Just in case a certain husband isn't sure what to get me) :-) I have been randomly drooling over this purse, which is strange because I'm not a "purse girl," evident by the fact that I have been using the same one since 2005 and never end up sticking with the new ones I buy.

I long for this scarf, for obvious reasons:

Found on Etsy HERE
And this half zip would match my Mirage's perfectly:
Size XS, found HERE
And/or another color in the one
I got at Dick's on Black Friday...
(The green one and/or purple & pink one)
Current Need: I don't really need anything.

Current Triumph: Pulling the trigger on registering for my next marathon. It'll be my third attempt at my third marathon, so third times a charm, right? (More on this soon!)

Current Bane of my Existence: Static: static-y hair, static-y clothes, etc...

Current Goal: Base training, base training, base training!

Current Indulgence: Chai latte's with skim from my favorite coffee shop.

Current Blessings: My family, my friends, my husband, my generally awesome life.

Current Excitement: Heading to Florida this weekend for a friend's wedding and to run long beachside with an old running buddy, the impending Christmas festivities with family and friends, and officially reaching the one year mark since I was cleared for takeoff for running again! I promised my doctor back then that I wouldn't train for another marathon for one year and now it's time!!! Hooray!

How'd your November shape up?!?!

Running is what you make of it, make it an Adventure!™

Detroit Turkey Trot clusterf*ck? I would have never guessed... ;) We ran it a couple years ago and once was enough. They now have an Anti-Turkey Trot closer to Jennie's parents for people who are sick of fighting the crowds of the official Turkey Trot.

Still haven't had time to get into the Game Of Thrones books. Maybe someday...

Current need? How about needing to come back from Florida with a certain second season of a certain series? We only have two episodes left! Ned's about to lose his head! :)

Thanks for the up date. Looks like you are keeping things nicely rounded. A little painting, a little running, a little racing, a little reading...

Congrats on finding the 3rd marathon. Will Spike be going the distance with you?

I hope the wedded bliss just keeps on growing. I think your monthly recaps should enclude a sweetest thing Spike has done section. That way we can all drop hints to our husbands to try and get them to be more romantic?, thoughtful? You and Spike should just write a book. ;-)

Well, unless I throw up 11 miles today, you have me for November. That's probably not going to happen. Good luck on starting the marathon cycle again. I may be doing a summer one, but we'll see.

You're the third running blogger I know of who is reading Game of Thrones. What a bunch of nerds!

I bet I ran less miles than you. Neener neener.

I know they say the Turkey Trot is supposed to be a fun run, but don't you think those running would at least like to run across the finish timing mat?! Luckily I pushed my way towards the front of the start line so I only had to walk a few short steps to reach the mat. Unlike others who were completely stopped over 3 tenths of a mile back!

Can I triple like this post?!?

And I'm SUPER DUPER impressed with your speedy 5k time, PR or not!

You're Alive! Thanks for the update... so, Game of Thrones? Good Read?

sorry you had the plague. and that your turkey trot of choice sucked. what a pain!

I also liked Middlesex and thought it was an amazing read. except the ending ... he got all specifically political and that a) won't stand the test of time b)gave the ending a weird tone.

I just want to say that Game of Thrones book 3 threw out so many plot twists that I was not expecting at all. In a good way. So if you're still in the middle of it, watch out. :)
