7 Days In Paris

Hola runnerds! When last we spoke I had just gotten hitched and was heading off to honeymoon; well, now we're back! We still haven't gotten back the wedding photo's, only a few teasers, so you're going to have to hang tight for that recap a bit longer but how about a honeymoon recap to tide you over instead?

EDIT: Read the wedding recap HERE!

First things first, I must tell you all a little back story: Way back when Spike and I first started dating we had one of those conversations that all newly dating people have where you ask each other, "where would you go if you could go anywhere in the world?" My response came easy, Paris. It has always been my dream to go to Paris and see the Eiffel Tower, stroll along the Seine River, and most especially, to go to the Louvre. Spike's immediate response to my answer was simply, "I'm going to take you there someday."

And so, he did. For our honeymoon.

We took the red-eye out of Detroit on Wednesday Oct. 17th and arrived Thursday morning the 18th in Paris. I have never traveled abroad before and was incredibly excited about the trip; the next seven days were the most amazing, romantical days I've ever had. The trip can best be summed up like this: we ate like locals, we museum-ed like tourists, and made memories of every moment. I could bore you to tears with a full recap of each day, as I old-school journal-ed it for prosperity's sake, but instead I'll just leave you with a few of my favorite pics from the trip. (In no particular order, click any to enlarge, and you're welcome for not posting all 700+ that I took!)

What a stroll along the Seine looks like.
A fav shot I snapped while strolling the gardens of Champs Elysees
Capturing the French vibe in our scarves
We added our own "Love Padlock" to the Pont De l'Archeveche Bridge, it's said that lovers who lock their love here and throw away the key in the Seine are destined to return.

A picture I have waited my whole life to take! At the Louvre!
The Mona Lisa
Whenever I recall the Louvre, I will always remember this moment, being all alone with the "Winged Victory"

This is a video pan of the front of the Louvre

A room in the Louvre that features statues from, what should have been, the Chateau de Marly Jardins. This was one of my favorite exhibits.
Enjoying some rare beautiful weather on the lawns of the Luxembourg Palace
My strange fascination with old cemeteries was quenched at Montmatre
The view from the top of Notre Dame
The Gargoyles of Notre Dame
The run of a lifetime, 8 miles roundtrip to the Eiffel Tower
You know I loved me some Parisian alleyways!
At the Arc de Triomphe
The view from the top of the Arc d'Triomphe
Luxembourg Gardens
Hall of Mirrors at Versailles
A hauntingly beautiful shot taken in the gardens of Versailles
Rodin's "The Thinker"
Dinner cruise along the Seine on our last night
This is a video I shot of the Eiffel Tower at night; every hour for five minutes it twinkles with these sparkly lights.

Incredible pictures. Looks like your 'eye for art' is not limited to just your painting.

Sounded like an epic time!

Your pics are amazing - especially the Luxembourg Garden and Palace ones, and the Versailles garden trees one. I've always wanted to see the Versailles Palace, it sounds awesome.

And yea, that pic of you in blue in front of the Luxembourg gardens needs be framed and put up in your house somewhere lol.

Welcome home Mrs. Spike!

Your pictures are amazing and I'm sure only a fraction of the wonderful that you experienced on your honeymoon. Congrats again, girl!

It has been a long time since Ive been to Paris. With hubby and two young kids so not as romantic as your trip, i'm sure.

i saw something like those locks while we were in Florence, Italy in September. I wondered what they were all about!

Very jealous of you aeronautically able people. I don't know why they can't just knock me out and have me wake up in another country, or build one of those teleporters.
