...and it's Monday, again.
It was another busy weekend around these parts, so let's break it down bullet style:
- Friday night Spike was out of town so I celebrated by doing all the laundry; a chore I'm forbidden to do on a Friday night because it's been dubbed lame. Am I the only one that gets excited for laundry? Probably.
- Saturday afternoon Spike's aunt's hosted a bridal shower for his side of the family and they put together the most perfect pink and flamingo-tastic event ever!

| Yes, I have a flamingo problem. Also, please do not look directly at Spike's shirt. It may cause blindness. |
- The shower went great, I wasn't nearly as nervous this time, made sure to wear a dress that was longer, and only had one name slip-up. We received some very thoughtful and awesome gifts and I just can't say this enough: I am marrying in to such a wonderful family.
- Later that night we hit up our favorite sushi restaurant to carb-load for Sunday's long run. Once upon a time I would have never, ever strayed from my standard plain noodles but living with the human garbage disposal will definitely change your ways. Anybody else out there carb-load with sushi?
- Sunday, Sunday, Sunday was the men's Olympic marathon; what. a. race! I'm not going to lie, I teared up for Uganda's runner as he grabbed his flag and ran in to the finish with that huge smile on his face. Truly inspiring! Then of course there was Meb's hard fought fight for fourth place, hell yeah! Way to go Meb!
- After watching the race we headed out all runspired for my big 12 miler. You know it's been a hot summer when 70* feels amazing, however, getting the later-then-usual start meant a sun smack down by end. The last few miles were tough and reminded me that while it was only two miles further than what I've been used to, it was also the farthest I have run since March of 2011!

- Pit toilets: The most horrific things ever. That's all I'm going to say about that.
- Exactly two months from today, I'm going to be Mrs. Spike. :)
So, that's my weekend, what'd y'all get in to?!?!

I love the flamingo shower! How fun!
Congrats on 12--huge accomplishment after going thru what you have. 2 months? Time flies! ENjoy!
Nice pace on your 12 miler!!
Love your flamingo shower theme. So fun!
Are those reflective strips on Spiike's shirt?! Impressive.
I'm jealous of your 12 miler. I did my LR on Saturday and the humidity was awful. Sunday was definitely the better day but I couldn't watch the marathon and have time to fit my run in before we had other obligations.
For my first marathon I only carb loaded with Sushi. Before the actual race I only ate like 2 rolls. It retrospect I don't think it was enough for me. Now I eat like 2 dinners...hah! Congrats on your farthest post injury run! I will be in A2 the last week of August...are you around?!
12 miles! BOOM! You are soooo back!!!
So happy that you had another lovely bridal shower. Love that dress!
Spike's shirt... wow. :)
I'm jealous of 70. Can't wait until the temps drop around here. Congrats on your 12!
I am so thrilled for you -- 12 miles!! Yay!! You've definitely earned it.
Did Spike realize that he was at a wedding shower, not running in traffic at night? LOL, that shirt is crazy.
Yeah for bridal showers & awesome 12 mile runs! I got all teared up watching the marathon, too.
What did I do this weekend? I became a triathlete :)
Um, lady, you look fanfreakintastic in that pink dress!
Sounds like you had a pretty fantastic weekend! Except the whole laundry thing, I'm glad you like doing it though; it's pretty much my least favorite chore to do.
Also, it was so incredibly awesome to see Meb finish in 4th place! What a hard fought race!
Where did Spike get that shirt? It's awesome!
OH WOW!! I totally have a thing for flamingos too! I thought I was the only tacky one! :)
That's a beautiful dress that you wore for the shower! Congrats on your 12 mile run!
I loved getting gifts that were finally for us, no more odd mish-mash of stuff! Hope the rest of your planning goes well, can't believe I'm down to 10 days until I will be a Mrs.
Spike really likes to stick out in a crowd, huh?!
I can't wait to see you, Mrs. Spike!
12 miles. holy boom.
I too love the flamingo. Once upon a time, my problem was also out of control. It took constraint, but I've overcome.
I think you said it once, but what is your new running watch? It looks nice!
Playing catch up. That dress is gorg! Loves it. Also is Spike molesting that flamingo or what? Lololol
Congrats on a killer long run! Sub two is in the bag!!
