As most of you know, today is National Running Day. A day that celebrates being healthy and active and urges everyone to lace up their sneakers and go for a run. I for one can't wait to head out later today and log some miles, especially because this is what I looked like last year at this time:

| National Running Day didn't say anything about crutches or Das Boot |
To all of you out there dealing with an injury that can't go out for a run today, I'm dedicating my miles to you. Having an injury is never fun, especially on days like this when it seems like all the world is rubbing it in your face that you can't be out there too. BUT, please remember that you will be! Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next week, but eventually, so DON'T GIVE UP! Injuries break us down but they can also strengthen our reserve, our determination and by doing so we come back a stronger runner for enduring and overcoming.
If you can't celebrate National Running Day today, get your cardio on some other way! Hit the elliptical, the bike, the pool, between the sheets, whatever you can to get your heart racing! Stay strong and stay hungry my injured friends, the road is out there awaiting your return.

Aw great post. Thanks for running for me and all us injured folk!
I coordinated a whole club run today and I will be biking with the group. But like you said, next year it's game on National Running Day! Game On! :) Enjoy your run!
Great post, what a difference a year makes.
Enjoy your run today!
Great post, I remember that I couldn't run last year on national running day due to injury and I was really bummed. This year while I'm not 100% yet, I'm getting closer to 100% and can actually run today. Enjoy your run!

You must be the world's most interesting female runner!
I just love that photo! And your positive attitude. You represent well the runners who do not give up.
I love that you included a between the sheets "cardio" option. heehee

Woohoo for being able to run on National Running Day!
um. i made today my national run day because i was too lazy yesterday after my workout haha.
but yayyy for running!!! and now the "this bud's for you" tune is in my head.
Awww...thanks for this post & for logging some miles for me :)
I did manage to run my 2nd 1-mile run yesterday & it was a huge mistake since I also ran Tuesday. Back to back days are still no bueno. But then I got in the pool and knocked out my fastest 1/2 mile swim ever :)
