Many moons ago after we first got engaged, we selected a photographer that was local to the Grand Rapids area where we are getting married; and part of the package we selected included a complimentary engagement session. This weekend we finally got around to making it happen and lucked out with sunny blue skies, warm weather, and our awesome photographers, Davyn Photography, were nice enough to drive over and snap us in our hometown. I could not be any happier with our photo's if I tried, they turned out absolutely perfect and they loved all our quirky ideas and locations. Here's just a few of my favorites, though they took so many that it was hard to narrow it down to just a few! (Click on any to enlarge.)

Did any of you have engagement photo's taken? What did you do with them afterwards? For a minute there I kinda felt like getting them taken would be pointless with all the wedding photo's we're sure to have taken, but then Spike pointed out that we could show off our personalities and why we are "us." He definitely had a point and after seeing them I can't wait to frame a couple.
Hopefully this wasn't too barf-tastic for you, and I promise next post will be more running and less schmooping! :)

There are a few things in life that I know now that I wish I could go back and change. I wish I had captured moments like these. Showing who I was "then." Life moves so quickly and people change and grow. I often can not clearly remember who I was back then. It's sad because who I was helped shape who I am.
I am so glad you got these. They will prove to be a window into your past in the distant years to come.

Love the running ones!
We had them taken and used them in a wedding slideshow at the reception. Also I printed and framed some for our bedroom.
They are nice to have in a way.
These are fantastic!! I love the running shots; so perfect for you two! Matt and I didn't get engagement photos taken. Our photographer was in Michigan but we live in NYC, and it just didn't work out. Looking back I wish we had done it.

These are super cute! The photogs did an amazing job, but it looks like they had really good subjects as well.
Didn't get a chance to get engagement photos done. Husband was off playing Marine and didn't come home till 3 days before the wedding.
this is the one thing I feel like we "missed out on" with our Vegas wedding. and while we could get pics taken now, it's not the same (besides, now I want pics of my kids!). I love EVERY one of these!

those are really good. I love them all! We did have engagement pics taken and they were actually better than our wedding pics so I am happy we did do it!!
Great photos. You guys are such a good looking couple. We did not have engagement photos taken and I wish we did because our wedding photos are not that great. So glad they are not your typical guy and girl posing in front of a black canvas background. So happy for you both.
Love the pics and totally agree with Spike's comment. It is a fun idea for some true 'you guys' time.
It continues to amaze what some photopgraphers can do with lousy subjects!

Too cute! We didn't get engagement pictures and I kind of regret it. Your pics are great.
I love all those shots. Especially the ones at the track. We didn't get engagement shots taken. Our photographer for the wedding was a friend from college who gifted us the photos. Saved a ton of money. I'm not sure that the thought of having engagement photos done even crossed my mind.
We got them done by a friend (the same friend who shot our wedding) and I'm really glad we did. So far we've only put one on a canvas and done nothing with the others. I wanted some shots of us in casual clothes though since we honestly don't have a ton of photos of the two of us (he doesn't really like to be in pictures).

Oh my goodness, these are adorable!! I LOVE your dress in the first photo (and the setting), and I LOVE the track ones! If these are a sign of what's to come from the wedding photos, I'd say you're going to have an utterly gorgeous wedding.
By the way, I'm hopelessly behind on blogs due to vacation, and I almost just marked everything as read in google reader. I'm glad I didn't!
