3 Things Thursday

  1. "Time" For an Upgrade: I've been rocking Spike's old Forerunner 205 since he gifted it to me back in 2009. Hermes has been a good little Garmy but sometime last year the "beep" died. I contacted Garmin about it and they said I could send it in, along with $60, and they'd send me a newly refurbished 205 but I'm cheap and decided it wasn't that big of a deal. I've contemplated upgrading to a newer model but the they are just as big and bulky as good ol' Hermes so the drive hasn't been there... until now. Today Mike posted about Asics' new sports watch line rolling out in the Spring and I may have a crush:

Yes, the girl who won't wear flashy shoes wants this watch.

  2. Corktown Bling: I received an email from Corktown yesterday with all the usual pre-race info and something I hadn't expected; finishers receive a medal! Normally I'd think getting a medal for a 5k without placing a little silly but considering this will be my first official 5k race since my R2R I am stoked for the memento. Can't wait for next weekend!

  3. Spreadsheet Love: Yesterday I finalized my 10k training plan, it's been a long time since I've had a spreadsheet and I am so excited to start filling in all those colorful boxes!!! Any other spreadsheet addicts out there whose training isn't complete without those boxes telling them what to do?

I loved that we got a ceramic mug at my last ultra. Swag at those is very rare so a cool mug is a nice and usable memento of what turned out to be a great day.

I like entering all my data into my fancy spreadsheet - since I usually don't "follow" the plan very well.

That looks like a lota watch for a tiny redhead.

I love spreadsheets. I have my training for ever single race on a tab on a spreadsheet...

That watch is very cheerful :)

That is a freaking sweet watch!

I told my husband once that I could "do thinks with a spreadsheet that would blow his mind." I realized then how much of a giant nerd I was.

whoa whoa whoa you can get a new garmin for just $60 if yours dies?!? I'm remembering this for whenever this happens to me! Yayy for 10ks :)

I'm with you on the spreadsheets! I also did not know that you can get a refurbished Garmin for 60 bucks. Is that normal, or did you buy a special plan with yours? I think my original one was well over 200 dollars, so 60 bucks is not bad!

Yes! Spreadsheets! Boxes! Color-coding!

Also, congrats on reaching 3 miles! You'll be back to the big stuff in no time. :)

Actually, I'm typically a training plan junkie - planning workouts months in advance. But right now, no serious training and I'm just using the spreadsheet to log runs. Kind of nice for a change. But it won't last long - summer speedwork is right around the corner!

I am going to give you a pass on the 5K medal, but only because I got one this past weekend. Go get 'em!
