- Expired... Earlier this week Spike (who actually came out of hiding and posted) told me he needed to make a GU run and I told him he could just use some of my stash from last year... which ended up being expired. When I took it to FB y'all unanimously agreed that expired or not, it was still good for the consuming. Who knew this stuff expired?

We don't need no stinking expiration dates! - "Awesome Joggers"... Another thing worth mentioning that happened recently is that we met with our photographers for the wedding and they said we were "awesome joggers" in reference to our marathon running. "Awesome Joggers." Kills me every time. LOL! Needless to say we schooled them on all things marathon related and they are excited to test out their creative photog skillz with a theme'd engagement session soon!
- Roller Derby... Spike and I like to peruse the community events board at our local coffee shop and this weekend we learned that the local Rollerama is having a Valentines Day theme'd roller derby! Spike and I are stoked to go catch some girlz rough each other up on Saturday! Have any of you ever checked out a roller derby?
Fun Fact: The movie Whip It was largely filmed here in Michigan, including the Ann Arbor area where I work!

I was offered some GU by my Hubz g-pa (he is a biker and got it for free and didnt use it).
Only problem was it was from 2009!

i was living in AA when they filmed the movie and remember when i finally say it, i thought ypsi was the perfect place to make that movie!
i don't worry too much about exp dates, unless it's dairy.

i knew gels expired b/c i had some in Erika's car forever. lol! i found the expiration date and was totally grossed out. i don't think you should eat it. blech.

We give out day-old bagels at our training runs! We should go dumpster diving behind REI for gels........
I'd love to go see a roller derby sometime. There's a fun "race" up here in the summer called "Running of the Bulls". You "run" from bar to bar while girls from the Grand Raggady Roller Derby team chase you with foam bats. It's the one "race" my husband never misses.
Beware the expired Gu! Some of it can go for months, but others...change form a bit? Power Gels get really watery, which can be a shock to the system.
The other day I had a BARELY expired GU, but the taste was off enough that I immediately gagged. And I've got a pretty good stomach for gu - I don't even take them with water.
so, test it out before trying it on a run is all I'm saying. :)
I would have voted no go on the expired GU. I get freaked out by expiration dates which is crazy b/c they are really just dates they shouldn't sell items past but may still be consumable.
I don't know how many times I've seen Whip It but it is one of those life indulgences I don't reveal too often. Nobody reads your blog right?
I eat expired Gu all the time! I have a friend that works at the local store and she gives me buckets of it when they are instructed to throw it out. Shhhh! :)

Not only did I check out the roller derby, I took my two boys. I became the coolest Dad ever for one night.
What ingredient in Gu could actually go "bad"?
I have had same issue with gels. I usually pitch them because on the off chance they have broken down and the stabilizers or whatever don;t work, I don't want to be retching in middle of long run.

Ohh I wish I had known you worked in Ann Arbor!! I was at U oF M recruiting for work and was wondering if I knew anyone in the area but I didn't think you lived near there. Guess I really do not know Michigan very well!

Call me crazy, but "Valentine's themed" and "roller derby" seem contradictory. But then again, I once rented Inglorious Basterds for Valentine's Day, so what do I know?!?
Watching other people get hurt is a Valentine's day tradition. No it is not. Well, maybe it is.
Roller derby is pretty fun! I went to one w/ a friend in Oklahoma City last year, and we really enjoyed it (though we wished we knew more about the rules ahead of time, because we found it a bit confusing).
