3 Things Thursday

  1. Not a Spin Bike... So for the last year+ I've been leaving comments in the suggestion box at my gym about how desperately a spin bike (and row machine) is needed. Well you can imagine my excitement when they announced on their FB page that they just got in "new spin bikes." I arrived at the gym Tuesday to find two of these:

This is not a spin bike.

    For reference, this is.

I still managed to break my lady parts all the same but I repeat, the bike in the first picture is NOT a spin bike!

  2. Running, Running, and Running, Running... Another week of running is just about in the books and I have to say, the novelty has still not worn off. Slowly but surely I am starting to feel more and more comfortable out there. The other day a friend asked me if I was jealous of Spike training for a Spring marathon and I didn't even blink before responding, "Absolutely NOT! I am so happy for him and quite frankly, a marathon is so far out of my realm and capacity I don't even think twice about it. I'm just happy to be out there running what I can!"

  3. Writer's Block... I feel like a bad blogger lately, I haven't had much to say and you can tell with my lack of posting anything other than a "3 Things Thursday." There's just so much you can say about running a mile or so, mostly on a track. Next month will offer far more excitement around here because B.o.B is coming for a visit and I'll be tackling my first real attempt at a 5k in over a year.

Anyone else short on content these days?

Who you calling short?

Not A Spin Bike should be on the next comment card you drop into the gym's comment box.

I'm short on content! I keeep telling myself that quality is better than quantity!

Quality is definitely better than quantity. I do not understand how some bloggers post 3 times a day. Maybe you'd have enough exciting stuff to share if you were like, a ninja, or a movie star, or the president, but three posts a day when your job is blogging is ridiculous.

Omg! LOL on the "spin bike."

Total gym fail!

Wait ... there's a difference between a bike that spins and a spin-bike? Too funny. At least they tried.

So glad that running is treating you well. Your attitude, per usual, is great. Still looking forward to cheering for you in a race. Will happen sooner than you can imagine.

I've been a bad blogger too, but instead of not writing when I have nothing to say, I keep posting. Yay!

But the tv is kinda fun. Though would probably make me less focused on actually working out...

#2-I hear ya. I did get a little choked up at the start of the Goofy races and kinda wished it was me, but I also was kind of glad it wasn't haha. We will be fully back "soon"!

#3-umm, have I ever had any good content? No. :)

that sucks that's there aren't any spin bikes but those tv's attached to them look like you could sit there for a long time!

I'm not even going to lie... I totally call #1 a spin bike. :)

You'd think they might have asked a fitness professional prior to ordering "What is the best spin bike" versus - "hm, maybe these people will like a nice upright bike with a tv attached?"

Are you going for 5K in distance or are you lining up an actual race? Also, which spring marathon is Spike running?

Definitely short on content here. Since I started actually eating halfway well here, half my schtick is gone.

I'm with you on not being sure what to post about lately. I've been really busy and haven't been able to focus on one thing for too long so I feel like if I post it will just be rambling.

Glad you are still enjoying running! You'll be back to marathons some day, no need to rush it.

i'm definitely short on content as I've been running on a treadmill for the past 3 weeks. Not much exciting has been happening on this end either!

Just do like I do, make up stuff. It doesn't have to be the truth, does it???????? HA

But that bike has a TV on it! A TV!!!!

don't call it "writer's block". Call it a "sabbatical" and leave for months on end. Much more classier.

it's because we're too far into the winter to still be complaining about it. no one has anything to talk about right now, so just post some ass pictures and we'll all get along just fine.

That is pretty funny that the people in charge at your gym don't even know that a spin bike is. Instills a lot of faith in their ability to train anyone.

Love that you are working your way back and loving it. No doubt that jealousy is the last thing you'd feel towards Spike's training. You will get there. Not rush.

Content? I have things to post about but I've just removed the pressure to always have to post. I do when I can but family, work, running come first. I wish I had more time because I love writing too but...I actually read more blogs now than I was able to before.

That would definitely be a fail on the gym comment card fulfillment!

So happy for you to be out there running again!

Not a spin bike, but an addicting exercise bike nonetheless (expresso is the name). I do spin AND these bikes, until it is warm enough to get outdoors again. And it is not a TV either. The monitor lets you track your cadence, heart rate, power output, etc. They may look gimmicky, but the feedback you get while you ride is great, the steering and gear changing makes the time go by, and you can even review your weekly and monthly workout data online and compare your times to others at your facility and worldwide.

I have nothing to write aout these days. I think after so many years, I might have said it all!

My gym had a few of the "non spin bike" models pictured and I hated them. It's a cool concept with the screen and being able to race others in real time etc but they were the most uncomfortable bikes ever. On the other side of the gym there was a real spin bike (only 1) and I loved using it on cross training days.
