3 Things Thursday

  1. "Running is Hard"... Between my R2R and Spike starting marathon training again, you hear that phrase being said a lot around our house lately. While I'm still enjoying every step of my runs, starting over from scratch is hard, and by that last lap of my recent mile runs I'm spent! There's also the new-found soreness factor, which was in full effect after the Eve on the Ave 5k race but thankfully, y'all helped me decide on FB that, that was more awesome than lame. :)

  2. Personal Growth Goals... Between a Christmas request to draw a picture for a niece and all the wedding crafting we've been doing lately it got me thinking that I should really get back in to doing artwork again. It's been a very looong time and I decided to make it a new years personal goal. I've made good on it twice already by painting some fun pics for Spike's niece's with more on the way.

I've dubbed these the "Undie Owl"
    and the "Funky Penguin"

  3. #RYTO5K... To end this, I just thought I'd direct your attention to Adam's "Race Your Thorns Off 5K Virtual Race." He has put this on for the last few years and it's a great first "race" to get you back in to training mode during these cold months of winter. The race is set for January 28th so there's still time to join and get to training!

Have you made any personal, non-fitness related, goals for yourself for the new year?

I endorse the personal growth goal of creating more artwork. I wanna animate that penguin now doing a funky dance!

LOVE the paintings!
I would like to buy a few canvases and get to painting this year too. I am not terribly artistic when it comes to drawing and painting but I want some funky art for my new house so I'm going to give it a shot.
I also want to take more photos and use my new video camera.
And knit/crochet more and maybe learn to read a pattern.

If running was easy, I would do it!

There's a shirt I like, it says something like "My sport is your sport's punishment." Yep. Running is hard, yo!

Re: "Running is so hard" -- I am absolutely with you! I ran my first marathon on 12/4 & REALLY needed a mental & physical break from training. Then came the holidays, and there I was going for my first run in four weeks on 1/2. It. Sucked. ASS.

I love BOTH of those paintings - what a cute kiddo collection you've started!

On that note, D saw the penguin and instantly declared he wants it. Ha, so, you may be in business. ;)

Fun artwork! One can never have too many funky penguins!
My non running goal is to try to make the house look as if a bomb hadn't just gone off in it.

Are you going to design a new logo for Team Frosted Flakes??? Still no official word if it is going down this year or not though, so we'll see. It could end up falling the same weekend as RYTO so a possible two birds, one stone scenario.

Did I totally gap the fact that you can paint??? Wow! Nice work!

Damn Red you got talent. Those pictures are awesome. Now I have to decide between you and Lindsay as to who my favorite blogartist is.

Maybe it can be both based on type of painting. Classic and Modern.....

Getting back into running again after I had to take some much time off really was a lot harder than I ever imagined. It will come around though, right? Right!

Love your art, how cute are those?!?!?

Time to open an etsy shop!! Those are cute - ESP in a kids room or kids bathroom. I also would like to get back to artistic creativity in '12. You know, outside of MS paint. :)

Umm my ass is sore from taking the stairs at our hotel this weekend. Pathetic.

Yay! Thanks for the virtual race shout out. I can't remember, but you're in, right?? You'll be rocking out the 5k by then no worries!!

Running is tough. Dont let anyone tell you different. But, it'll always be that way unless you plug away at it. Keep it up!!!

Cant wait for the FYTO - it'll be my first 5k in 6 months!

My personal goals are to have more excursions with my kids, conquer my fear of public speaking, and pass my personal trainer certification. 2012 is going to be a great year!
