January - 125 M - January was full of awesome winter running, many a 10 miler with friends, the beginning of marathon training, and the Frostbite Marathon Relay; which would end up being my only running race of the year.
February - 138.77 M - Cleveland Marathon training ruled my world and it was awesome.
March - 58.2 M - After starting off the month with a kick@ss 18 miler, a week later March would forever be known as the scene of the injury.
April - Between spectating my first race that wasn't, the Martian Half on crutches, then hobbling to Boston to cheer on Spike, I had to admit that injuries suck.

June - Thanks to the setbacks in May, I spent the whole of June rocking some serious Das Boot, but at least I got to surprise my Beaker Luv for her baby shower and there was that whole Florence + The Machine and U2 concert with Jen B. Woot!

August - Another forgettable month of non-running mixed with some PT, biking, and lots (relative) of swimming.
September - I finally got a second opinion on my leg, which was promptly followed by me having to go all Morgana the Red on a bone stimulator rep to get a bone stimulator in the first place. Besides all that mess, my fav memory of September will be walking the Cooley Law 5k with Spike for a 5k PW. Leg be damned!

October - I said goodbye to my 20's and hello to the big 3-0! The very next weekend Spike sent me on an unforgettable quest that started in Florida and ended back where our love story began, in Chicago, with him on one knee!

November - That just happened last month right? Yeah, I don't remember it either.
December - 3.1 M - Finally CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF! Being able to run again was so awesome but then after a few short runs I coughed myself injured and had to shut it down for the year... or NYE anyway!

Running Total for 2011 = 327± MTeam Frosted Flakes was tu-tu-rrific!

Saddest pic ever.
But this pic still makes me swoon!
May - After suffering some setbacks, I kinda hated May, but at least I got to rock some spectating for/with friends (at another race that wasn't) at the Cleveland Marathon.

Making Das Boot classy since 2011!
July - In July I picked up my beloved new toy, Leela the bike, took a sh*t ton of pictures in the 30 Day Photo Challenge, and got to cheer on my Boo at the Top Gun Tri.August - Another forgettable month of non-running mixed with some PT, biking, and lots (relative) of swimming.
Leela & Brownie are long over do for a bike date!

You guys tired of kissing pic yet? :)
And if that weren't enough, I wrapped up the month in D.C. spectating MCM with these lovely ladies in some awesome sparkle pants.

Eve on the Ave Race Recap HERE!
Usually at this point I would reflect back to my goals for the year and see how they stacked up but that is all sorts of depressing so we'll just skip that m'kay?
My one and only goal for 2012 is: Run happy and healthy. Normally I would project all kinds of mileage goals I had in mind for training, maintaining, and year end, not to mention all the usual PR dreams, but after the very lengthy and unexpected injury that hijacked my 2011 season my outlook on these things have changed. I have planned my comeback very conservatively to ensure there are no injuries this coming season and will be grateful for every mile covered, however many that may be. The end.
Before I end this post I just want to extend a big, bold, THANK YOU for following along this year, even when my running adventures took an extended hiatus and meaningless drivel filled the void. Your encouragement and support was appreciated more than you'll ever know and got me through a lot of the rough patches. It is my sincere hope that this kind of thing never happens again around here and that 2012 will bring endless amounts of running ramblings only!!!
Running is what you make of it; make it an Adventure!™

"Run happy and healthy" - Best goal ever!
Despite the injury, it looks like you had one hell of a 2011. I'm sure it is a year you'll never forget. (Seriously, even if you try to forget it, Spike will be with you for the rest of your life now. Yikes! haha)
Happy New Year!
Cant wait to follow you as you embark this new journey into regaining your legs again!!! Even though your being very modest I feel in my heart that 2012 has so many wonderful/EPIC things in-store! Just think back to how awesome it was when you first fell in love with running.... You get a chance to relive that and enjoy it with the wisdom that you have gained over time. Get it girly!

Up and down but the best part is it ends on an up. That is awesome.
Hope you are ready for a great 2012 because it is going to be beyond belief.
"running happy and healthy" - perfect! sometimes we as runners get too wrapped up in all the details like splits, etc...in one sentence, you've described the best reason to run!
That is a great running goal! I have a feeling 2012 is going to be an awesome year for you!! :)
amen. take the numbers out and just enjoy. can't wait to see what 2012 brings you, friend!
So glad that you ended 2011 on a happy and healthy note. Hope that this continues all through 2012.
Wishing you a happy, healthy 2012 and lots and lots of miles.
So true that an injury that lasts longer than expected changes your outlook. I am grateful for each and every run I do now, in a whole new way. Even bad runs don't have the ability to get me down.
All in all, running means more to me now than ever. And that's a good thing.
Here's to a happy and healthy running year!
Buh-bye 2011 and HELLO 2012 with Red's return to running!!! My heart ached for you last year and I honestly don't know how or if I would have handled that myself. Sooo happy to see you moving on and putting it all behind you. NO MORE INJURIES!
I'm so glad you finally have this injury behind you and you're able to run again.
You mention at the end you hope this space has running ramblings only... but please keep us (me) updated on your wedding stuff. I love hearing about it.
Oh my cries, you and Spike are just too cute for words. This is going to be YOUR year, 2012. I know it!
What a year!!! I am floored. Congratulations on everything. Words don't describe how happy I am for oyu.
