3 Things Thursday

  1. Back on the Sidelines... After only one short week of half milers I'm back on the sidelines but thankfully, not because of my leg. No, this injury is from coughing too hard and pulling/straining an intercostal (rib) muscle. Everything I've read says that running will only further aggravate this injury so I'm just going to play it safe and shut things down until the new year. Only me right?

  2. I'm Dreaming of a Wh...Wh...Where's the Snow? Everyone seems to be up in arms about not having a white Christmas here in the mitten but I personally could care less. I'm not particularly a fan of driving in the stuff and after living in Florida for 11 years, I don't need it to celebrate the holiday. Does that make me a Scrooge? Anyone else a-ok without the white stuff?

  3. Festive Festivus! Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, or Fesitvus, here's wishing you and yours a happy one! Catch y'all on the flipside of holiday goodness!

Cheers to Spike and the Redhead for the holidays! Enjoy ...

I'm ok without snow. We don't often have it for Christmas anyway. It is a little odd with the predicted 60 degree weather though.
Merry Christmas to you and Spike. May you enjoy your last Christmas as single people. :)

There is a couch with your name on it. Sit, relax, recover. Have an excellent holiday.

I did that to my rib in high school and was haunted by it for 5 years because I wasn't taking any time off. It's definitely worth the rest time!

Hope you get well soon! Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!

Yikes! In yoga class they always talk about stretching the intercostal muscles while breathing. Thanks for the visual.

OMG that must have been one serious cough. :/ Sorry that you are sidelines and feeling crummy... hope you can enjoy the holidays and get ready for an epic comeback next year! I know, I know, no marathons yet... but that doesn't mean it won't be epic!

Merry Christmas!!!

Oh no!!! So no running when I come back? :( Feel better!

I am a little sad about not having a white christmas...but otherwise am totally ok with these warmer temperatures! Better for running and just plain more comfortable!

BOOO HISSSSS! I hope you feel better SOON! :-) Have a great holiday with Spike!

Gah! I'm wishing you a full recovery from all ailments this year. Merry christmas!

merry christmas! hopefully the rib heals quickly, cheers to a fantastic 2012 of running.

You can keep that white sh*t up north. I don't need snow to wake up late, make waffles, drink coffee and watch a 6 year old act like a tornado opening gifts. Nope, don't need or want it.....kinda like a rib injury.

Were you bobsledding again? Is coughing the term now?

Merry Christmas!!

I can't remember if I've told you before, but I love the caution sign logo that you created. It's really cool. Are you upset that Wisconsin is trying to steal the "mitten" state thing? They don't even look like a mitten - what gives. Hope you feel better soon. Have a great 2012!

Oh no! That sucks about the coughing! I had a TERRIBLE cough for just over a week and it's gotten a lot better but occasionally I still wake up having a coughing fit (like last night). It sucks!

TNTcoach Ken said...

Damn, you must be a helluva cougher! I don't need the white stuff either....

I live in Los Angeles. I think if it snowed here for Christmas half the city would die of heart attacks. People crap themselves from fear when it rains.

Lauren @ Sassy Molassy said...

Oh man that sucks, Red. Hang in there and cheers to 2012 and more RUNNING!

Ouch! That is painful. I hope it heals up quickly.

I'd actually be ok with a bit of snow.

A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and Spike.

Ugh, hope you are feeling better soon! Merry Christmas! :)

I didn't think of this until right now but when I pulled my intercostal muscle my PT okay'd me to try and run, and it felt fine as long as I kept it real easy. Hmm.

Geez, you can't catch a break! Hope this thing and your cough goes away. You are going to have a good 2012. Happy Chrismahanakwana-Festivus!

Ugh! I hope the rib/lungs are better soon!

My sister and I went running today in shorts and t-shirts and it was amazing. I don't miss the snow at all!

Snow=ick! My boyfriend gets excited for it when it hits us (rarely), I grew up with it so I hate it. Not to mention when it snows in Atlanta it shuts the city down....pain in the keister.

Feel better. Come new year your body will be on the same page as you

My heart sank when I strated to read your post. So glad that it isn't the SF!

Take the rest and tell 2011 to suck it! You've been through enough of it's BS!

Not going to lie...I am sad about the no snow. Not even so much the no snow, but more that it is so darn gloomy! It has been unseasonably warm and rainy all week, an it looks like early evening at noon. Nooo thank you. If it's not going to snow, could it at least be sunny?!

Merry whatever you celebrate as well! :)

Christy said...

Well, if you do change your mind and decide you need a white Christmas, I have about 3 feet of the white stuff in my yard. I can surely send some your way!

But like you, I don't need it. (Why did I move to Alaska, again?!)

Take it easy, chica! Res that rib muscle of yours and eat some delicious holiday treats. You can work off the extra calories during your epic comeback!

Nelly said...

Wow, you seriously cannot catch a break! Hopefully you are able to run soon!

Happy festivus for the rest of us!

lindsay said...

Ribs, lungs, who needs em anyway. Quit making excuses ;)

Just kidding my dear. Merry Christmas / if that offends you merry whatever. Haha. I was wondering yesterday why we say happy Kwanzaa in our general merry greetings because I have never met anyone who celebrates Kwanzaa.

Jennie said...

Not only you! I just had the same thing happen from my epic coughing and was in tears while running a week and a half ago because it hurt so badly. Wishing you a speedy healing process and a very Merry Christmas!!

Mamarunsbarefoot said...

yes, no coughing.. Unless you want to crack a rib like I did.. Hope you're feeling better!

Amanda - RunToTheFinish said...

they brought "real snow" to a church down here and it was HILARIOUS!!! It was a large pile of snow that looks like what you get after they plow the streets.

anyhow hope you get over this sickness soon and merry christmas!!

Heather @ Dietitian on the Run said...

Hah, yes girl - ONLY YOU. But look how you've learned! Stay smart, rest up, heal :)

I am totally FINE without the white stuff, too. We're having a very seasonally mild holiday here, too, and I love it.

Merry Christmas!

Run Jess Run said...

I've done that same thing while coughing and it's a bitch. Hope you feel better soon:)

Bari said...

As a life-long Michigan girl, I can honestly say I don't mind a green Christmas. I hate driving in the stuff, too.

Have a great holiday, Morgan. Rest up and hopefully the coughing will stop soon.

I'm the same way with the snow! My parents moved up to Michigan from Texas after I went away to school and I am more than okay without the snow. It's sunny right now and I love it!

Joanna said...

I can take or leave the snow. I like it just fine, but can do without it too. Either way! Anyway, I hope the side injury heals quickly!!
