3 Things Thursday

  1. I Retract My Previous Statement... So remember when I said I loved daylight savings time on Monday? Um yeah, I kinda forgot about the whole, it's now pitch black when I get out of work thing. Boo.

  2. Infatuation... Have you ever been at the gym and seen someone who actually looks happy to be there? That's currently me; big goofy grin slapped on my face, sweat dripping from my brow, loving every moment of my 1.5 elliptical miles. I've gotten a few weird looks and that's when I realized, is it just me or are there a lot of grumpy faces at the gym?

  3. Red + Spike Update... Some of you have expressed an interest in hearing about wedding deets so I thought I'd share that we're touring a few venues on Saturday and will hopefully find a place we love and pick a date! For those of you that are married already or about to be wed, how'd you know you found *THE* place? Also, feel free to share any tips or advice.

I hope you all are gearing up for an awesome weekend on this Friday Eve!

The whole getting dark early thing sucks. It makes me lazy and feel like a loser for wanting to be in bed at 6.
SO happy youre the happy person at the gym! YAYYYYY!

Mike and I only looked at two places. We wanted to get married on the water. The place we ended up picking ended up being the nicest, but also the best deal.

I'm totally imagining people being like "why is that crazy so psyched to be working out??"

I have no real advice for you because Joey and I are going a very non-tradional route with our venue.
However, a blogger (Anne) who just got engaged asked her readers about what she should look for/questions to ask when looking for a venue and her readers gave a lot of good advice. Here is the link. http://www.fannetasticfood.com/2011/11/04/the-chili-fail-that-was-a-win/

I agree with DLS bites.
One my friends passed me when I was out running a few weeks ago and told me I must have been having a good run as I had a huge smile on my face. I am sure I looked like a dork but who cares.

LOL, did you also think about the cold and snow with that dark?

yikes, i forgot about daylight savings, I'll be in for a pretty big shock when I get back to the US soon. They changed the clocks here, but it didn't seem to make much of a difference since I'm in the south.. ( atleast I think thats why...)

I am completely expecting at least a weekly post on all things Red and Spike wedding related!!

Going back to Standard time is nice in the morning and sucks after work but in a few quick weeks it will simply be dark when I go to work and dark when I get home. I'll only see the sun on the weekends. Oh how I'll miss it!

When I worked at a gym (a lifetime ago) I was the cheerful peppy (irrating) girl. I knew I was. Others told me.

"The Place" was my parents gorgeous backyard of my childhood home, so it was immediate perfection. Reception was there as well. We transformed it into party headquarters. Good luck with decision making. How fun is that??

Oh dear, our entire wedding was planned out. It was just to the point of putting down the deposit and paying for it, and we completely changed everything.

We saw a room, had a telepathic conversation, and knew it was the place for the reception. That threw everything we had planned into a tailspin. We had no idea on the site of the actual wedding and we had it pointed out to us by a discarded flower in a park that reminded us of the first bouquet I ever bought her. We followed it down some stone stairs, and that became the place.

Eventually all of it worked out perfectly. I hope you both have similar success, and the world gives you both a little push toward where you need to be too.

Good luck finding a place! Enjoy every second. I wish I could do it all over again sometimes! It was fun... a little stressful, but fun!We just knew when we saw it! :)

I'm ambivalent to daylight savings time. I was running in the dark before we switched and I'm still running in the dark. It just makes my Sunday afternoon long run more special because it's in the daylight.

We got married in the same church my wife's parents were married in. My wife wanted it that way and I think it worked out well.

I wanna slap all those unhappy faces at the gym. Are they serious? Its awesome to feel the adrenaline and endorphins raging. C'mon people live it up its the F'n gym and not prison!

Anyway, how did I know that was the place? Well I guess my question is which wedding, 1st or 2nd? HA HA!

Anyway for the first we knew we wanted an outdoor wedding and her aunt/uncle had a gorgeously big house but not so big that we could invite 400 people. We limited it to 75 and it was perfect.

For the 2nd wedding it was which court will take our application the fastest? HA HA! No, we chose a courthouse in this beautiful city (read wealthy) and got married there. It was quaint and perfect.

You will know its the place when you walk into it, just like buying a house.

HATE the time change. HATE IT. Where are those days it was light til 10pm? Sigh.

Totally want to hear about wedding stuff. If we could have a redo we would do things differently. Do what makes YOU two happy, not what is "expected" of you. Happy planning.

I thought you were crazy when you said you liked DST! Glad you came around ;)

We actually found our wedding venue semi accidentally. We had been searching for places both in GR and in Macomb (where Jennie's family was from). We found a place in GR that we really liked but figured it was booked already. We called any ways and they had been totally booked for the summer but had just had a cancellation for one weekend. We swooped in and grabbed it and planned everything else around that weekend.

Good luck with all the planning!

DST= Major boo.

Like Kevin said, landing our venue was the result of amazing timing. Trust that you'll know it when you see it, and/or like ours, it will fall into your lap with a nice, sparkly, neatly tied bow on top. :) Have fun with the tours!

*the* place, IMHO, is a beach in Maui. In reality the place doesn't matter much. In fact most of the details you will scrutinize are completely unimportant and the importance you will place on them is complete lunacy. You and Spike matter, the place does NOT.

Don't go the traditional route unless it's REALLY what YOU AND SPIKE want.

Viper said...

You know how you know when you're in love? It's the same with the right wedding venue.

Planning a wedding IS complete lunacy, but it's worth it. Good luck. Cheers!

So hard to really know about "the place". Just make sure it is somewhere you both love and follow your gut. Honestly, I loved the little gazebo we had!

Also, make it a part of you and a representation of who you are as a couple.

But that is just my two cents!

Ha, I can imagine you hoppin' around the gym, enjoying it and beaming. The sweat glow!

Any luck on the tour de Venues??

Yay for the gym! As to a wedding date, we kinda knew before we even got engaged where we wanted to have the reception. So the day after we got engaged I called. They only had 2 open dates, so I called our pastor with those, he narrowed it to one, and we were set! Good luck finding places you love. :)

Honestly, I got married in Brazil, so my parents were planning everything (and paid for everything -- yes, I know how incredibly awesome that is), so I had it easy! My biggest worried was choosing the dress!

I blogged about my wedding, and have all the individual posts, along with some pics and a "best of" video here: http://carlarunstheworld.com/wedding/

Good luck choosing the place!

Our place was in Tampa, right on the water. But it was not "the" place. The Place should have been Vegas. Much less drama and we probably would have saved several thousand dollars!

I like DST for the one hour I get to sleep in- then I hate it!

Love that you are loving the gym! There is nothing motivating about working out beside a sour pus! Bring on the smiles people!!

Hey Morgan,

I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing. I hope that you're just busy with holiday's, wedding planning, and bone healing!
