Third Times a Charm!

This morning I headed to the doc for my third follow-up appointment for the ol' stress fracture...

So nervous!!!

And after what has felt like FOREVER (17 weeks since injury or 106 days since my last run, not that I've been counting or anything...) being “Crutchers, Boot-a-licious, Gimpy, Draggers, Hobbleton, Hobbles, etc”...

March

April

May

June

July

Because nothing is classier at a wedding than a boot right?

I am finally DONE with crutches, boots, and feeling like an invalid.
NO MORE DAS BOOT!!!

Because I have been out of the game far longer than expected I was not however, cleared for running quite yet. I begin PT tomorrow and will hit that up 2-3 times a week for the rest of the month. I was also given clearance for all forms of xtraining, including going for walks. I return for one last follow up appointment on August 4th and then we talk running, training, and getting me back on track. It wasn't quite the news I was hoping for but I'll take it. One more month, I can do this. Spring marathon here I come!!!

Das Boot can suck it!!

Spring marathon you say... How about a winter half to help you train? Surf City on Super Bowl Sunday is a great race. It will be smack in the dead of winter so 60 degree weather and a beach won't seem so bad then. Plus I'm likely doing the half so we can run together :)

No more das boot!!! Hooray, girl!!! This totally sucks that you can't just hop right off that xray table and go for a run, but it's probs for the best (ugghh) as to not take two steps forward and three steps back. SOON you'll be back and oh man, I can't wait to hear how your first run back goes :)

Not the news you wanted but check out Gunzy McGillicuddy there.

Man the torpedoes Red is bringing the heat with the biceps....

It will all be over soon and running will then consume your life once again....

Great to hear! Enjoy getting back to working out!

Sounds like you are like me now, doing physical therapy and cross training a lot. Be ready for some of the physical therapy exercises to be tough, and mentally tough too. Recovery is tough. Physical therapy seems like a chore sometimes to me, but at least you can now move.

Good luck with getting back!
