It's true, we finish each others sentences, steal each others thoughts, and can predict what the other will say, think, or feel about any particular subject at any given time. Though miles (and miles and miles, d@mn why is Michigan so effing far away from Florida?!?!) separate us this phenomenon hasn't stopped and so it goes that this week we were emailing back and forth about running and blogging, naturally, and she admits that an Ironman is now on her bucket list. I laughed and said, "I saw that coming" and then we both laughed at how out of date our "100 Things About Me" list is... Then an idea struck each of us at the exact same time that we should post a revision in light of the fact that they're, oh about two years old now and things have significantly changed since our newbie days of running.
I actually have to laugh out loud at some of these considering how far I've come since then...
(1) “I really don't care if I ever make it to Boston (if it happens, SCORE, if not, no worries)” Um yeah, about that, next attempt will be my third. Can’t wait for Boston 2013!
(2) “With speedwork a continual source of pain I question whether I'd ever be able to run fast enough to qualify anyway” Again, jokes on me. I’m certainly fast enough to make it happen, I just need my body to cooperate.
(3) “There are only three things left on my "Being a Classy Runner" list and I pray it stays that way...” There is now only 1. (And I honestly can’t remember what the third thing was now).
(4) “As much as I want a Garmin, I am scared of becoming obsessed with my pace and there by losing sight of the joy of a good run” Me and Hermes couldn’t be happier together, if only I could dust him off and use him again.
(5) “For whatever reason I always wear the same pair of underwear for my long runs (yes I wash them in between)” I finally got over this, in fact, I generally refrain from wearing any at all in the summer! TMI?
(6) “Toenails are overrated, so don't get too attached.” I said this about the time I had 8 missing, needless to say I’ve learned a thing or two since then and won’t ever have that problem again!
(7) “Running should be an adventure, enjoy it!” While the concept is the same, the mantra has been updated; Running is what you make of it, make it an Adventure!
(8) One of the reasons I put why I run was, “To eat carrot cake guilt free after a long run” No longer living in the land of Publix cured me of that. Nowadays there's not even a particular treat I reward myself with after a long run, actually that is sad... I need a new after run treat stat!
(9) I also said “I’ll pass” on everyone’s favorite recovery drink chocolate milk, well I wouldn’t pass nowadays. It’s still not my fav but I don’t mind it anymore.
Do you have any retractions you need to make? Did you swear you'd never run a marathon? Race a triathlon? Wear spandex? Wear a running skirt? Shoot a snot rocket? Go anywhere in public after a sweaty run?
Check out B.o.B's revisions HERE.
And before I can officially wrap this post up I have two things to say:
1. I hope y'all have a fantabulous weekend!
2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEAKER LUV!!! 2 more weeks til we get to meet Ella!!! YAY!!!

that picture is so creepy! but i can relate. i have a good friend who knows everything i'm going to say and can say it for me. we scare each other.
i actually said i'd never put the pressure on myself to qualify for boston. 2 qualifying races under my belt and i'm sure there will be more...
That is one creepy picture!!
I try not to say things I'd never do because that usually means I will do it. Same with not liking certains foods... they are sure to become a favorite. I have no idea why this is.
Yeah why is Michigan so far from Florida???? Damn mapmakers!
Now I want to name MY garmin!
Also, I still can't understand the chocolate milk as a recovery drink.
I swore I would never wear a running skirt, now I LOVE them, I made fun of people with hydration belts, I have 2 now. :)
Completely creeped out. We kind of look like weird Olsen twins though. LOL!
Boston 2013!!!!!!!!!
Mine was, I swore I would never become one of those triathletes that shaved their legs.
So, if you and B.o.B are on always on the same wavelength and one in the same, does that mean an Ironman is on your radar now too???? :)
Yes, carrot cake guilt free is a big motivator for me!
My wife makes the best carrot cake in the galaxy!
Yes - it is funny how our things change over time! I don't have a documented list, but pretty sure I said I would not PR again in the marathon, or becomes a decent swimmer (now I am slightly above average in the tri world), that I would buy a real expensive bike, that I would do a trail run (never done a real race one, but will I am sure at some point), do an ultra (same - will do at some point). As we learn more about the world and ourselves, we change - even in the running/tri world!
I of course popped over because of B.O.B's post! :)
It's funny when you say "never" again. I did my first marathon and said never again - I'm training for my 8th I think. And I finished an Ironman and said never again... #4 will be in September with #5 already in the works. I said never to recovery socks... couldn't live without them.
Great update of your list!
I swore I'd never wear a running skirt, and I've kept my promise. However, a running kilt may be in my near future .... does that count? I will admit I made fun of my wife's sister and her husband for all the Sports Beans, and Gu, and FuelBelts, etc. they invested in when they decided to run a marathon (before I ever tried one), and I've since done or used all the things I mocked. More than willing to admit I was wrong ... as I often am .... multiple times daily .... per my wife.
After my first marathon I said I'd never run one again. My dad continues to remind me of that. After I actually trained for a marathon (Disney) I said I was never going to run a marathon without proper training... I've only done 3 untrained ones since :)
I don't know if I could even think of 100 things about myself.
I swore I'd never do a half IM, and I still am firm about never doing a full IM. And I've always sworn that 26.2 isn't for me either, but...... we'll see.
Every year I say, "This is the time when I set the marathon aside and focus on the half marathon." Every year it has been a lie...
That's funny, I've been planning a LIKE/DISLIKE post, which is kinda similar. Fun stuff. :)
Love your updates! Let's see I never thought I'd be training for a marathon right now.. but I am!! Chicago 2011 here I come! I'm kind of in a rut right now.. so hopefully I can get myself out of it stat!
I swore I would never, ever, ever wear a running skirt as I thought they were "too girly" for really running. Okay....I ended up trying one for the Run Like a Diva series (thought it was the time to be girly) and fell in love. I now own 4. Also believed Nike was the only running shoe. Well now I run in Brooks....
whoaaaaa! some crazy photoshopping skills you have there!!
i am sure some things have changed since i started. they must have, right? I guess I try to be smarter about training and recovery...
Love the photoshopping! You have mad skillz!
After St. George last year, I said I wouldn't run another marathon until my girls are older. I meant like in their teens. Not a year older. Yet I am running St. George again this year.
You WILL BQ! No doubt ... and I only need half a brain to figure that one out!
That picture is scary!
I can't remember anything off-hand that I promised that I would never do in terms of sports, but I never thought that I would run a marathon, and I did accomplish that.
For your list I like #4 the best, I haven't had a garmin ever until just last year, now I feel naked without it! I can still run just for the fun of it, but I like all the stats and data that the garmin provides.
And thanks for the feedback about aqua jogging! I might pick up a belt today actually. And it looks like you do a lot of kickboard drills, what kind of drills do you do? I am still trying to figure out how a kickboard works and how to hold it and everything.
I can't even handle that picture!
Love your retractions :-)
I can't believe you had 8 missing toenails at once! Holy crap! Glad you got to revise that one!!
Thanks for the Bday wishes! Didn't get to your blog Friday since I wasn't working.
1. Your picture is creepy :)
2. I hope the stay classy runner thing is still what I think it is :)
3. You need a treat darn it all! I forever think of you when I think of carrot cake.
4. 2013 Boston FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE YOU LOTS!!!!!
I wish I had a list like that in writing to look back on. Probably swore I wouldn't snot-rocket, run commando, BQ among other things. My how things change.
Boston 2013 BABY!
