3 Things Thursday

  1. It'snot snot... So I'm the last person to talk about gross stuff on my blog, I usually leave that to Adam, SUAR, Spike, etc... But in case this ever happens to you and you don't have a B.o.B to consult here's the deal; See being a newbie "swimmer" I inhale more than my fair share of pee pool water and yesterday I found myself in excruciating pain because all that agua decided to settle in to my sinus cavities. After sneezing all morning and blowing my nose every 5 minutes I finally emailed B.o.B for a solution and she introduced me to Neti Pot otherwise known as the most disturbing thing ever for which to flush your nasal passages. After further inspection I opted for the SinuFlo instead because it seemed less intrusive but as you can see below, "Step 3" is about as gross as it is painful. I honestly can't decide if the relief it gave me was worth how disturbingly disgusting the whole experience was, BUT should you ever find yourself in this situation I can assure you it will fix the problem.

    What goes up (one nostril),
must come down out (the other).
    Eww.

  2. SYTYCD... I have a confession, I actually went on to the website and voted for my favorite dance/couple for "So you think you can dance" last night. *Hangs head in shame* I can't help it, I just really think Melanie and Marko are kicking butt! Do you have a favorite?

  3. Holiday... No, not Madonna's awesome-sauce 80's song, I mean the 4th of July holiday weekend! It's upon us! I love a long weekend! We've got, surprise-surprise, a jam packed holiday weekend planned including a return visit to Alpena. Remember the last time we went there? Yeah, let me tell you, I can hardly contain myself.

This 4th of July marks my 3rd anniversary of running my first ever race, otherwise known as my Runniversary! I wish I were able to celebrate it accordingly but it looks like I'll have to make due with the hotel elliptical instead. At least my doctor appointment is the following day and I'm praying he'll clear me for take off as a belated anniversary present!

Happy 4th of July weekend to all my stars and stripes peeps! I hope you all have found some awesome way to celebrate whether it's a race, fireworks show, or just grilling in the backyard with family and/or friends!

My husband was having tons of sinus problems so we both tried a neti pot (me mostly out of curiosity). It was so freaking creepy. I had to close my eyes while I did it. But it really clears things up!

I hope you have an incredible weekend up north! There is no better place to celebrate the 4th of July than northern Michigan (okay, now I have Kid Rock's song stuck in my head!)

When (not if) the doctor clears you, I'd get online and do some research on what 'they' are saying about running since you had to stop. It's gone beyond minimalist, or even barefoot. Most folks don't even use their feet anymore. The world is evolving so quickly. Crazy stuff :)

Enjoy the holiday and best of luck with the Doc next week.

Neti pot is a life saver. It also freaks out my husband, which is a plus.

Most of my staff uses the neti pot and I hadn't a clue what it was so they had to bring it in and show me. LOL

Looking forward to good news from you come Tuesday! I'm hoping that running is on your list of things to do that day! :)

As for our long weekend, we are going to Myrtle Beach for a week and we happen to be leaving on Sunday.

Have a great trip and a great long weekend!!

ahh! i LOVE Melanie and Marko! They are totally rocking it. It's gonna be a tough season though - there are a lot of awesome dancers on there. I also like Robert - he seems like fun ;)

I broke my nose in college and have sinus issues and people always suggest the neti pot to me, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I am sure I'll be the first person in the world to accidentally drown them-self with a neti pot and guarantee myself a Darwin Award! Just too big a risk for me. ;)

Yay for the neti-pot! It looks and feels weird as can be, but it WORKS! I started using one when I was pregnant with my daughter and had a really horrible cold that was starting to turn into a sinus infection. Of course, I was still in my first trimester and couldn't take diddly for my cold. The neti-pot got rid of it in 3 days time...cold was gone! I've been a believer ever since.
I too want to know how you get so much water up your nose. :-)

I actually worked with a girl that helped market the Neti Pot for awhile. Crazy, freaky thing but it did help when I had a terrible sinus thing going on.

I cannot deal with anything going up my nose. That is all.

I have used the Sinus bottle for a long time and SWEAR by it for sinus headaches. I have my entire fam using one, too. :)

When I think of Madonna's song, "Holiday" and you...I think of airband...good ol' highschool!

Mr Incredible swears by the neti-pot.. I say gross... Not sure I could ever make myself try it.

1) My nose is crying for you. OUCH.
2) Pick that head up - guilty pleasures aren't banned from the blog world. ;)
3) Starting a weekend with an awesome-sauce 80s song video?! YES please.

Maybe you won't be running, but I hope you kids have some fun!

I hope your follow up doctor's appointment yields good news! Have fun on your jam packed weekend.

I was only going to be upset with you (re: sytycd) if you had voted for anyone OTHER than Melanie and Marko. Seriously. I want to dance as beautifully as Melanie, and I think Marko's funny voice is just the greatest thing ever. :)
