3 Things Thursday

  1. Checking out the classics... In honor of "National Running Day" yesterday I settled in to watch, for the first time ever, "Chariots of Fire." This movie has long been one of the top most inspirational running movies of all time and although, IMHO it is a little slow, by the end I can definitely see why! Anyone else want to fess up to not having seen this movie yet? How did you celebrate National Running Day?

  2. Better to be safe then sorry... My return to the pool Tuesday night did not go as planned. I did 15 minutes of pull drills and then switched over to aqua jogging. Inside of 15 minutes I felt a twinge so I immediately stopped and called it a day. Yesterday my leg bothered me all day long. After much consideration I have decided to forgo any xtraining until my next doctor appointment on June 14th with the exception of some arm and core workouts. I figure it is better to play it safe (even if it kills me inside to not do a d*mn thing for another two weeks) than to be sorry on D-Day. Something has got to give sooner or later right?

Well pool, it was fun while it lasted.

  3. The only redeeming quality of injury is... my boobs have reappeared. Yup, I almost have a cleavage. (Sorry I had to end this post on a lighter note.)

Have a fantabulous weekend everyone, I'm heading to Chi-town to spend the weekend with my cousins, enjoy those long runs and races!

I spent national running day not running. I ran the day before in 100 degree weather and didn't really want to do it again so soon. I'll get out again today for a belated celebration.

I finally watched CoF about a year ago. Definitely slow, but a great movie.

Safe travels!

Has Spike developed sympathy man-boobs yet?? haha

yay for boobs! down with no boobs! (PS I may take a week off running to see if I can get some cleavage! LOL! JK I never had any to begin with.)

I cracked up reading #3! I wouldn't mind that happening either.

Don't worry, I've never seen more than like 10 min of COF. I'm not ashamed :)

Congrats on the Boobs! :)
Although, super-sad-face regarding the twinge-y pain following your pool workout! You're wise to refrain from [lower body] workouts -- think how buff your arms and core will be!!! :)

ok is it really weird I have never seen that movie??

DAMN YOU INJURY GO AWAY...hope that helps :)

Marlene said...

Aha! I knew there was a silver lining! ;) Have you put on any weight, or have you just found that your body composition is changing?

Bummer that you are stuck with no cardio/lower body activity for a couple more weeks, but you are making the smart choice. It HAS to pay off!!!

I remember watching COF as a kid and being in awe. Have to rewatch tho since I don't remember too much of it. I hope you hear good things on the 14th.

And I'm totally j that cleavage is the only thing you see when you're between phases.

YAY boobs!! ;)

I just watched COF for the first time while recovering [from the 24 hour thing].

loved it!

Sorry about your pool date...but boobs are good, especially if you aren't running with them right now!

Thankfully I have good genes and weight gain has been minimal, I have stayed at or below my usual non-training weight since I got injured. This is also largely in part of watching what I eat and xtraining when I'm able to.

Rewatched COF a couple years back, and although it was good, and the music is still great, it didn't live up to my memory in terms of overall interest. Worth watching, but pretty slow.

Sorry about the leg twinge. Wise move shutting it down again for a bit. Easy for me to say, I know. Sending the healing mojo...

Ugh...so feel you on the crosstraining and having to reel it in. I'm in the same boat right now and it's really, really, damn hard. One day we will be fit again!!

I think you should use this time to learn to meditate. Or sign language. Either way...

Good for you on playing it safe!!! I started chariots of fire but i did not get passed the first 10 mins, i felt it was soo slow and hard to hear/understand so i guess i am worse

It's hard to be smart. Glad to hear you are!

I'm so sorry your leg still hurts.. :( Have a great, awesome trip!

i tried to watch it one time and couldn't finish... (hangs head in shame). I'm SO PROUD of you for being cautious!

I'll actually fess up to never seeing COF. It's actually sitting in my Netflix queue, but keeps getting bumped down by newer, sexier impulse choices.

Besides, I have "Run Fatboy Run" as a motivational movie, and I'm sure they're pretty much the same movie, right?

Heather @ Dietitian on the Run said...

MUCH better safe than sorry, and hopefully that'll = faster healing, too! Ugh, that leg is being such a brat.

Cleavage though? We can all agree that's an up-side ;)

Chariots of Fire and Cleavage in the same post is something to be thankful for.

Good luck with the next two weeks and hopefully that will be the last time you are just sitting around.

That sucks (again) on the injury. Can't you just swim with no kick?? Heck - that's how I do it anyway with no injury! :-)

And if there is cleavage - why is here no picture?! Duh!

Yaaaay for boobs! Boooo to leg hurts.
I've never seen COF. Not even considered it. Now I shall go put it in my queue on your recommendation!

You're totally allowed to end the post on a lighter note. Good for you for being smart and just stepping away from the pool. THat takes A LOT of strength. More than many of us would be willing to find. Good work, girl.

Congrats to spike on his new toys ;)

I tried watching COF but it was suuuuper slow and I got bored and didn't finish.
