- Suck it Leg... In case you were wondering, I disabled the comments on my last post. While I wholly appreciate all your support and encouragement let's be honest here, what more can be said that hasn't already been said in previous discussions about my injury? It sucks and I'm just going to have to dig a little deeper. End of story.
Well not entirely the end, my doctor called me yesterday and said that he had been thinking more about my leg and on further review of my x-rays wants to fit me for a walking boot. He wants to make sure that my next round of x-rays show significant improvement and the only way he can ensure this is by taking a more conservative approach. At this point I am in no position not to try absolutely anything that might help, so boot it is. I go in later today to pick it up, and just in time for my trip tomorrow to: - Colorado... For my sister's graduation. Yup the older mini-me graduated high school yesterday and is ready to be released in to the wide world as an adult. I'm so very proud of her and can't wait to celebrate with the fam this weekend. (Not to mention a mini getaway will be a welcome distraction considering the suckfest my week has been.) Now the real question is do I bedazzle the boot before I get there or wait and make it a family affair?
- Giveaway... Remember a few months ago when I had that Sony Walkman Giveaway? Well chances are you probably didn't win so guess what?!?! Lindsay over at Chasing the Kenyans is hosting her very own Sony Walkman Giveaway!!! She's also offering up referral bonus's for those of us that have already hosted so make sure you tell her Red sent you when you enter and we both get a chance to win!!!
Have a great weekend one and all! Rock those races and long runs, enjoy the great outdoors, and remember that even a bad run is still better than no run at all. Live it up for me as I'm only running vicariously through you!!!

definitely bedazzle the boot, maybe throw some puffpaint in there for good measure too.
Have fun on your trip and congrats to your sister!!
I'm all for bedazzling the boot :)
Sorry the healing isn't going FAST ENOUGH (dammit!). Hopefully the boot will make a difference.
Have fun in CO!!
have a great trip! and i'll be sending you good vibes that the boot helps to speed up the healing for you!!!
i'm here if you want to call and yell "look assholes i just want to run" over and over. xo.
Colorado?? Where?? The boot will work!! And you will look better than anyone in it!
Boots are so in this season. Or so I have heard. :)
I really hope it helps speed up the healing process.
Have fun Boo. And Ironman by Thirty is so right. You'll be the fashionista I know you to be with that bedazzled boot. Hugs!
Bedazzle away! Get all the attention you can for your pain and emotional distress. Maybe you can even get bumped up to first class if you hobble enough =)
Have a great time in Colorado. Glad you will have a distraction!!
Hope the boot helps. I know how you feel: sometimes you don't want to hear anyone's "hang in there" comments. Sometimes you're pissed and damn it you want to stay pissed!
But, seriously, hang in there ... Cheers!
Little known fact ... recent research indicates a bedazzled boot promotes healing 82% faster than a bling-deficient boot. Cover that sucker with as much 'flair' as you can. Really hope the boot does the trick for you. Running world needs you out there laying down the miles.
Dang! Had I known you were gonna be bedazzling things I would have saved you the mullet sweatshirt... It would have gone great with the boot! ;)
Thanks for the shoutout, again. So far you are winning :)
One thing I will offer is {{BIG HGUS}}
Have a great time in CO and congrats to the little sis! She's a cutie.
A fellow former booter here myself. Be prepared for the onslaught of "what happened?" comments. blah. Tell them to suck it and pick up box wine at Target. That was my treatment plan.
That boot will give you a serious pimp walk, so you should pimp that sh*t out!
COLORADO! Where in?? You'll probably be crazy busy (as you should be!) but if you have a free hour or two to grab coffee/drinks somewhere, I'd love to drive down to meet ya. Lemme know what you think :) It'd be great to finally meet ya, since I missed ya in Boston. PS. your doc sounds so great for thinking about you post doc-appt, and the boot sounds like a great option. more conservative = faster recovery? fingers crossed!
Have a fun trip and congratulations to your sister!
Maybe bedazzle your own boot section, and leave a little space or some family love? :)
Have a safe trip to CO!! Still crossing fingers that I'll get to see you!
Have fun in Colorado, congrats to your sister!
And I understand your emotions are all over the place about your leg. I'm injured right now so I understand completely. You can deal with it however you want. Just now that people here care and hopefully you get better soon.
Congrat to your little sis! :) And enjoy that trip! As for the boot...well, it sucks. Really no other way to put it. But, you seem to have an MD that takes this seriously. And that's a good thing! Let him work on it and fix it!
Oh, and start wearing the boot asap. Be careful!
OMGosh I love your posts.
"Photo bomb" love it.
and "suck it __" ya, I'm for telling crap things to suck it. This just made me smile.
If it will help, we can go get some cheap plates and then break them...or perhaps you prefer an Office Space type beat-down.
Thanks for the advice on the crutches. Good luck with the boot, hopefully it do it's job and aid in recovery.
Spike has the right idea. Walmart+cheap plates+ anger= RELEASE!
Hope you had a fantastic trip and that the boot is working miracles on your leg!
Bling out that boot! Maybe get a kicky headband to balance it out.
I hope the boot is treating you well and you had a great time with your family!
Just as long as the boot gets be'dazzled. That is ALL that matters.
Hi. Total lurker here, and you don't know me from...random internet person.
But I wanted to let you know about bone stimulators, in case your doctor hasn't already suggested one. They're FDA approved for the healing of certain types of fractures, and with your delayed healing, you might be a good candidate for insurance to cover it.
I used the Exogen 4000, and my broken foot healed in 7 weeks (was projected for 12). Other friends have also had good results.
If you want to read more, here's my entry on it -- http://wellimtryingtorun.blogspot.com/2011/02/my-little-bone-stim.html
(and no, I have no connection with the manufacturer, and bought mine on ebay)
