3 Things Thursday

  1. You know you're a runner when... while biking your old run routes you can't stop thinking about what it'll be like to run them again... especially now that they're not covered in snow! (Which will hopefully be sooner rather than later! Come on stress fracture, heal! HEAL!!!)

  2. Happy Birthday!!!... to my girl Kimmy and my beloved little mini-me sister May!!! Can't wait to see both of you very soon! So excited to have a trip to Florida and Colorado planned for this summer to see all my friends and family!

Do you see the family resemblance?!?

  3. Adventures in Aqua Slogging... Tuesday night Spike joined me for an aqua slogging session at the pool and I'm pleased to announce I'm finally better and faster at something than he is! (Mind you it took us almost 30 minutes to realize he had put on a child's flotation belt and that's the reason why he was sinking so much... but I'm still better/faster at it and that's all that really matters.) I really wish I had, had a camera to record his hijinks, because he makes everything far more entertaining then it should be, and the 45 minutes we were there flew by! He's already agreed to join me again but I fear it's only to get better and show me up...

Have you ever convinced your significant other to try something random like aqua slogging? Did they go along with it for your sake or did they give it a half hearted attempt and immediately write it off?

Have a great Cinco de Mayo weekend peeps! May your long runs be enjoyable, may your races be epic, and may you soak up as much beautiful sunshine as the forecast allows! Catch y'all on the flipside!

You'll heal soon enough! When I was finally better and when I ran past the point where I broke down and quit my last long run (due to the stress fracture) I said out loud "F*ck you, I'm back." Childish perhaps but it felt great.

Sometimes when I'm driving to work I think about how much I'd rather be running the route instead of heading to work!

I recently discovered that I'm better and faster at running than my husband is (he used to be WAY better than me). It gives me crazy amounts of pride :)

My fiance is better at most things than me - video games, knowing random facts, etc... but I'm a better at running and bowling (yea, I'm real proud hehe). He did start running a bit last year and we ran a couples 5k race together this past February.

OH yeah, the one time he tried yoga with me. I'm pretty sure that's one thing I'm clearly better at!

I can usually get my "Manchild" aka BF to try just about anything and no matter how good I am at it. He will beat me everytime. Recently we did Just Dance 2 for the Wii and he was doubling whatever my score was.

My hubs is 'naturally' athletic at anything...really irritating. But whatever, he doesn't laud it over me and will run at my pace if I need some help/kick in the pants/company.

Glad you went outside for a bike ride!! You will be out there soon!! My hubby is more althetic than I am by far. He is the one who convinces me to do crazy things like run!! He is a good sport though and goes to ballets and musicals with me!

YEAHHHHHHH take that Spike! So maybe if I end up injured, that will be my opportunity to be faster than Mark at something.

That little blond version of you is CUTE! Happy Bday sister! (and Kimmy!)

Have a great weekend, girl!

just think how amazing your runs will be because you've been looking forward to them so much :)

ahh aqua slog, so proud of you

Jon said...

OMG you have some INCREDIBLE mental toughness to do the aqua slog. Keep it up!

What is this snow you speak of?

Katie said...

you should make him do it with no belt since his "big muscles" make him "more floaty" than you. or something.

When matt and I would aqua jog together I would totally lap him!! HAHA!!!!!!!!!

I try to get Ryan to do group fitness classes with me. It's a big NO every time. Happy day to little sis, you guys look cute together

hahaha, can't stop thinking about Spike in a child's flotation belt = hilarious. (Sorry Spike). How fun to be able to do some sort of running together, even if it is in a pool :)

Happy Birthday little sis - hope she has an awesome day. And, yes, I do see the resemblance.

Well it's really only fair for him to use the same equipment as you ;) next time he should get no belt!! Then you'll really "smoke" him.

Haha, yes. Though after 10 minutes of pool running, Lauren spent the rest of the hour floating around on one of those noodles trying to convince me to get out of the pool.

I tried convincing my wife to get married to me and she fell for it. What a fool!

YAY for being faster than Spike at something. I hope your leg is better SO soon and you are running more than 120 yards at a time. Ha.

Jen said...

OMG you guys look like twins! Thanks for stopping by today! :)

Why do they have to call it a stress fracture? You didn't get it from stress. You got it from being such a rock star runner. Why can't they call it an I'm-such-a-bada##-I-broke-myself fracture?

Happy birthday to your girlies!

My hubbs needs to get more adventureous. He thinks pushing metal plates around is fun. But I'll never stop working on him.

Girl, you are rockin' that aqua running! I laughed so hard when I read the tweet that you spanked Spike at it! Whoo hoo!
Enjoy your weekend!!! Big hug!

I heart you little Redhead. Your Three Things posts always make me smile!

Awesome slogging story. Be sure you take a camera next time! And your sister is a doll. Like you!

Nelly said...

You and your sister are literally twins, haha

I feel your pain on not running, I can't run right now either due to muscle imbalance in my hips that is irritating my knee. So I can only do swimming and biking. Not fun. Hopefully both of us can get back at out there soon, I miss running.

Chris is pretty good about doing random things with me. I asked him if he wanted to do a push-up challenge. He agreed.. We haven't started yet.

When we go fishing I ask him if he wants to make a fishing show. He goes along with it. He's pretty good at entertaining my randomness :-)

can't wait for you to feel better soon!! see you on sunday in cleveland!

omg aqua slogging!! Perfect description of it! Yes, I've convinced my sig other to do a lot of crap, hahahaa, he does it!

Just Run With It said...

OOhhh, a trip to CO, eh?? If you swing anywhere near Boulder, let me know! I'd love to meet up for drinks or to go for a run/hike! I've definitely convinced/begged my fiance to come with me swimming before :) It's SO much more fun when I have his company!

My husband can't dance. He can barely stand in place and move his feet to the beat of a song. Practicing to dance for our wedding was interesting. I suggested a few lessons and he flat out refused. Oh well, we rocked it like eight graders.

Heather @ Dietitian on the Run said...

Ha! Okay not that Spike is huge or anything, but how did he fit into a child's sized floaty belt?! What does this say about the size of the kiddos?! Sheesh. ;)

Um, did I read "Colorado trip" and "Summer" in the same sentence? Yes?!
