- Snowmageddon... While Snowmageddon certainly was the most snow I've probably ever seen, it still didn't stop me from getting my run on! When Spike came home early from work yesterday and suggested we run outside amidst the blizzard I didn't even think twice! We totally lucked out for at least half our run with mostly runnable paths but the other half... notsomuch. Let's just say it involved a lot of high knees and drift jumping! Consistency definitely wasn't the name of the game but chasing after Spike still got me the overall pace I was aiming for. By the end of the run I was covered in snow, exhausted from the effort, and beaming from ear to ear from all the fun we had! It's def going to be a running memory I won't soon forget and I loved that a ton of my fellow northern runnerds had the same idea and didn't let the storm stop them from getting their miles in either!!!
- The New Couch... Its FINALLY here!!! Yay!!! Behold, in all it's glory, our new couch:
- Chasing the Kenyans... As in Lindsey, is coming to the mitten this weekend and we have a date for 14 miles on Saturday. I'm stoked to get some one on one time with one of my favorite bloggers who loves to
hassleer...motivate me on the regular. Here's hoping I don't get us lost or killed on this route I worked up in a city I've never visited!
So what's the verdict? Did Snowmageddon 2011 stop you from getting your run on, or were you crazy like me and most of the runnerds I know here in the mitten and went outside anyway?

No snow yet down in H-Town, but chances are good for Firday. If it does snow, I am so going for a run!
Haha nice work in the snow! It actually wasn't a running day for me so I was spared. And no school means mommy needs to report to the mill today.
I love the new couch!
Sadly we didn't get as much snow here as predicted but it did start snowing again last night as I was leaving work so I didn't get my run in. Didn't want to risk my neck on the slushy streets.
guess i'm truly a weather wimp. cold temps (it's -9 as I type) and icy roads (we get so little snow that I don't have yaktrax) have kept me inside for the past two days. no running, lots of yoga.
I scheduled yesterday as a day off and thank god I did. It was way too cold to enjoy any snow running...plus, I had done 20km the night before...so I had no guilt when I got home from physio and shared some wine with my wife. :D
I'm impressed that you managed to hit your target pace in those conditions...did you feel you put in more effort than normally?
Congrats on such a great run in such awful snow!
I'll be hitting the treadmill later when the husband gets home. I wanted to yesterday but with 2 toddlers and a husband taking care of the snow all.day.long. it was hard to do.
If I didn't have to watch the kids and do laundry while I was shoveling snow and cooking dinner, I would have gone outside and ran!
It's "cold" here today. I mean, it's not really but for us it is. However it will warm up into the 60s and 70s this weekend. I wish that's what your forecast was like too. I'd be more than happy to share the sunlight.
Nice couch!! Hey you get to meet Lindsey!!! Lucky! Have fun!
Didn't get anything but ice here in MD, but I was soooo not motivated. I think work, motherhood, and a tired body from January has gotten to me.
Super jealous of your run with Linz... take pics and cannot wait to read about it. She super motivates me too.
The ice/snow combo here left me on the couch... and speaking of which - I LOVE the new couch! Way to stay strong with these northern winters!!
Good for you! You are officially a cold weather runner now. That couch has nap written all over it.
"high knees and drift jumping" I think I would have liked to see that! You guys are hardcore.
I already mentioned on FB that I shoveled snow in lieu of running. I'm going out after work today, however. The cemetery is guaranteed to be gorgeous!
The couch looks awesome. I hope to see it IRL soon!
love
the
couch.
snowmaggedon ---- just writing that makes me cold. you are my hero.
Nice couch. I'm impressed you ran in that weather. I complain about biking in 50 degree weather and here you are running in freezing temps. That's dedication.
love the couch!!!! super cute!!!!!!
What the?!? Lindsay is coming to the mitten and I have to read about it here first???? She is going to get hell now! :)
Way to get in a snowmaggedon run!
No run for me - by the time I could, hubs headed to work, and he didn't get home until 9pm.
I DID enjoy a very lazy day in my pajamas though :)
Love the new couch!
Wrote a nice long comment and it deleted it. WTF!!
Take two---
I feel blessed to have clear sidewalks, although your run with spike sounds like FUN, you two are making awesome memories one mile at a time.
Love the couch, looks so cozy, including the cuddle corner (not technical name). Our new living room set will be here is 2 weeks and I am super excited our old set is broken and totally embarassing.
Lindsey seems so funny, I bet you two will have the best stories and photos.
No dying you have a lot to accomplish in 2011..
AND maybe I have not been floating around enough but I LOVE LOVE LOVE your Blog makeover.. I want to switch up mine but I am nervous.. Good work!
i ran and did the bike trainer...due to the ice storm we got as a result, i had to stay indoors.
I love the couch! Looks comfy.
I went running yesterday in Oregon. Thankfully, no snow here; although, it is cooler than I prepared for. I should have brought warmer clothes and left my sandals in Denver.
I like the new look, too. Classy!
I HAVE TO ASK. where is your couch from? I am couch shopping.
also, I ran in snowmageddon here last year and it was hilarious fun, i'm glad you got out and enjoyed it! xoxo!
Insane that you got a run in during Snowmageddon! I really don't know how you guys do it in the midwest with all the snow and cold, being that I'm from California I don't think I could deal with all that, haha Sounds like you had a great time on the snow run!
And you couch looks great, I think I have the same one =)
Great job on the run! Snowmageddon hasn't come our way yet (West) but I am sure if/when it does I will be out there running.
Love the new couch!!
FYI I started The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last night. Only got a few pages in before I had to turn out the lights but so far it seems good!
So much fun running in the snow yesterday! GOod for you maintaining any semblance of pace... I was slow as molasses, but happy to get it done!
LOVIN the couch! Hubs and I would be fighting over that long section. Of course, you could always share... but we've been married too long for couch snuggling! (kidding... mostly! lol)
Jealous that you get to hang and run with L! Jealous of BOTH of you. Have fun!!!
I LOVE THAT COUCH! Where did you get it?? We are in teh market for a new couch and that is exactly the kind we are coveting!
It wasn't so much the snow as the ice that got me! I couldn't even get to my car, much less down the street or to the park. And my gym closed due to the weather, so the 'mill was out of the question, too. But I didn't give up!! Nope! I switched my rest and speed work days and still got it all in. Congrats on running in the snow!
Love the couch. Love Lindsay. Love the fact that you are consuming the bars.
Love this ™ phrase:
Running is what you make of it, make it an Adventure!™
How awesome is that.
stay warm up there with CTK.
I was lucky--we were in one of the few areas that didn't get the snowmageddon storm! It did motivate me to get out, though, because I knew I needed to enjoy the gorgeous weather we were lucky enough to have!
Snowbank jumping is always a good time. And now you have another fun running story to tell, too! Good job on not letting the weather stop you.
Oh that sofa looks loungable! (can that be a word???)
New furniture is so fun! Enjoy some naps on that after your long run!
Nice new sofa! Blends well with the living room. I am still helping my hubby to dig us out of our snow - all 20 inches of it.
Thanks for going out in uber-winter conditions. And we ran side by side!
Just glad it wasn't as bad as they said it would be.
Great sofa! Looks so comfy! :)
Kevin definitely gave me crap until I pointed out that I tried to inform him of my travel plans back in OCTOBER. Then I got to booya in his face. He tried to blacklist me but it didn't work.
Your couch looks a lot like ours except chocolate (ours is tan). Obviously you have great taste!
See you sooooon! Umm we better not get lost... I don't have enough clothes for that.
Ohhhhh, new blog look - I like it!!!!
Snowpocolipse hasn't slowed me down! What is that?? It doesn't count if it was 60 degrees? Darn.
Drift jumping with spike sounds like a BLAST.
Love the couch! Where did you get it? I will be couch shopping with tax money soon. :)
*Raising Hand* I admit, I'm not one to get too excited about running on snow/ice-packed streets! Agh, gotta man up over here! The cycle here seems to be snow, warm up & melt it, one day of glorious snow-free sidewalks, and snow again...
Love the new couch! Stylish ;)
forget the snow, Where did you get your couch?
You would think that where I live means that we got more snow than you guys did, but sadly, not one inch.
I tagged you for an award on my blog!
i got my run on! 9 miles the day after! the packed snow was like running in sand...so i skipped the tempo miles and instead went long. it was great.
love the couch.
hope the 14 went well!
