3 Things Thursday

  1. You know you're a Runner when... you are both saddened and excited to replace your trusty old kicks with some brand spanking new ones (in convenient BQ blue). Introducing the Cleveland Crushers, now being rotated in to the training line-up and should be nice and broke in by May 15th!

  2. "It's your Marathon calling"... Speaking of marathon, lemme tell you how I was exhausted earlier this week and with book in hand announced to Spike I was going to slack-a-lack during cross training and read on the stationary bike. As I lazily got into the car he asked to borrow my phone because he forgot his inside... a few seconds later he rounds the car, opens the door on the phone, asks the "caller" to hold, looks at me and says, "You have a beep... it's your marathon calling and it wants to know why you're being such a slacker?!" SERVED! Needless to say I skipped the stationary bike, hit the cardio bike for some spinervals and followed it up with some insane corework. Gotta love the motivational chats of runnerds. Have I mentioned lately how much I loathe love that man!? ;)

  3. Frostbite Marathon Relay... Sunday Team "Frosted Flakes" makes it's debut at the Frostbite Marathon Relay in Holland, MI. Temps are shaping up to be decent but snow is in the forecast so this could be interesting... and by interesting I mean slushy, icy, madness. CAN NOT WAIT!!!

This is my first marathon relay and I assume it's just like Ragnar only much shorter, faster and less smelly. Have y'all ever done one and if so, any words of wisdom to share?

I love that Spike did that! That is fantastic! Great motivation! Gotta love being a runnerd!! It is going to be a blast meeting you at Cleveland! I can tell from your blog posts that you are one funny riot!!

I totally relate to number 1! i'm still wearing a pair for cross training that I really should retire. Good luck and have fun at the relay! Can't wait to read your recap!

It is great you have spike!! Maybe I can get Brian to start being a runner so he can motivate me! I bought new shoes months ago but have yet to pull them out! They will just get all gross in the snow and I just can't do it yet. The old ones are holding up for now.

My friends and I run relay teams for the Baltimore Marathon every year...it's a blast. We were 1st, 2nd, and 3rd female teams this year! Anyhow, you'll find that you run really hard b/c you have teammates you don't want to disappoint!

Have fun sunday! I'm jealous!

HA! Well played, Spike, WELL PLAYED. D always pushes me in annoying/loving ways like that ;) But he's also very cautious of injury ( having been victim too many times), and questions my ways every now and then. Guess there's a good balance there, either way!

OMG Spike is awesome! I would totally slack to read a book. Have fun at the relay!

LOVED Spikes marathon call...that is classic.

Great job on the cross-training workout! Maybe I should be doing more during my cross-training than just reading on a bike...although maybe it is better than no cross-training at all which is what I was doing before?? Hmmm...

HEHEHE.. I don't feel bad for my old (stinky) kicks, we have bonded for miles, they are ready to be rid of my 190lb torture..

Gotta love a Man who helps you reach your goals :) go get that BQ Little Red..

I love the picture with the old shoes in the shadow behind you haha!
Thanks again for the heads up on Ragnar Chicago, my friend and I are trying to put together a team it sounds awesome! Good luck at Frostbite!

It's funny how the love/hate relationship comes into play to most when running is involved. Spike and Viper should teach seminars on motivating significant others :-P

I'm loving the new kicks, I can hear the Cleveland pavement calling your name already...

I love how positive you are about Boston. I should try taking that mental route sometime. I'm always second guessing myself and just HOPING someday I'll run like speedy gonzales and shave 10 min off my PR so I can BQ. :) I just got new shoes too. I didn't realize how dirty my old kicks were!

F'N CLASSIC Line right there. Classic.

Spike is awesome, as usual.

Can't wait for the relay recap. I'm interested to see which you prefer.

And "runnerds" made me smile =)

It IS sad to get rid of an old pair. You go though a lot with shoes...all those miles...but new one are always fun too!
I've always wanted to try a marathon relay. I'm excited to know how it goes! Also, I'm going to be emailing you soon with questions about Ragnar! It's a month away for me and I'm getting kind of nervous! O.O

the dawn said...

spike is so awesome! mr. dawn knows just how to tap into my competitive juices too. one of his arrogant roommates from college was training to BQ last summer as well. i secretly wanted to beat him to boston...so anytime i didn't want to get out and run mr. dawn would remind me that "A" wasn't taking any time off and neither should i. needless to say, i will be toeing the line without him :)

#1... SO true.

L.B. said...

Oh, I don't know that I would have A) motivated someone like that, and B) responded well to that. I actually think it's cool to have a slacker workout every now and then, but then I'm not trying to BQ...

Sunday sounds like fun except I've never run in cold temps like that. Marathon relays seem like fun, there's hardly any around here though. Enjoy!

SPIKE IS AMAZING!!!! that's hilarious! Your ticker is making me want to go jump on the treadmill.!! Yikes! I'm excited you're running Cleveland as well! It's going to be amazing!

what a perfect running partner. my hubby really tries, but he's so sweet he usually just says, "well, you know your body best" when i really need a kick in the rear to get out the door.

I did the Crystal Lake Team Marathon (up in Beulah, MI) when I was in high school. I absolutely loved it! I recommend just having as much fun as possible. We blared music and had dance parties at exchange points. Good times all around. Oh, and they can definitely be smelly ;) but probably not as much as Ragnar.
Cute shoes!!
