Monday Mash

Because its so much easier to condense weekend recaps down to bullet points...

  • Spectating the Capital City River Run Half yesterday on the bike with Jen was a blast! Her hubby totally PR'd like a mofo and I got an excellent tour of the city! Susy Supporter was in full effect and while there was a momentary green eye moment, it was short lived. In my heart I know I want to toe the line of my next race trained and ready to rock!

  • You know you're a runner when... as you look for a new apartment in a new city, direct access to sidewalks and less traveled roads play into whether or not its a desirable living location. "Ooo honey, look at all the sidewalk around this one!"

  • After apartment hunting I headed out to Lake Lansing to run a loop with Jess; 4.63 M at an almost effortless 9:33 P. Coach EK "rewarded" me for such a good run with permission to attempt my first back to back run. Later today I'll lace up for a nice and easy 3 miler. This will be the first time I've run two days in a row in over two months! If all goes well I've also been given the green light for a 5 miler on Wednesday! Woot! Slowly but surely I am making my comeback. The enthusiasm level has officially been raised to "Pleased."

  • On the run I broke in the new kicks that I picked up in Florida. I had gone to Playmakers on Saturday to pick them up their very own set of arch cutlets and after installing them I was good to go. I thought perhaps ya'll might want to see them up close and personal. (The arch cutlets not the shoes... they're just like every other pair I get. Love me some 2150s!!!)

Arch cutlets; my fuzzy, random looking running lifesavers

  • ATTENTION CENTRAL FLORIDA AREA RUNNERS: Do you like to run? Do you like to have fun running? Have you ever heard of Ragnar? If not go there now. I'll wait...

Back? Good. Wanna join a team? As B.o.B mentioned the other day, the infamous B.R.A. (Brandon Running Association for all you newbie readers) have a few teams with slots for abled bodied runners.
The Florida Central Ragnar Relay is November 19 - 20, there are obviously some costs involved, but a good time will most definitely be had by all!!! B.o.B and I can't frigging wait to run this year's!

The teams are all different and here's how they break down:

Ultra Team: 6 Runners Only so it means 23 or more miles. Coach EK is on this team.

40+ Masters Team: Coach Tom is on this team and you must be 40 years or older to be on this one. I think they specifically need a female to round out the team.

Regular Mixed Team: I'm pretty sure they have more than one spot available.

Where can one get those arch cutlets? Do you need to see a professional to get them?

Samantha said...

WHOA! I've never seen those arch cutlets before. What do they actually do and they really work?

Back to back days of running WooHOO!! Hope you have a great run this afternoon!! I was actually wondering what your arch cutlets look like! I actually passed on your story to a friend who was having the same problems as you. I think we were both unsure what those arch cutlets looked like!

Oh, I see those arch cutlets up close and personal every day, and they are hott!!!!*

*Yep, the double 't' hot.

Ahhh! You're back to running! Worship those cutlets!

I got the cutlets at Playmakers, they are just these foam wedges that are sticky on the back side. You fold over the pointier looking edge and insert where your arches are. I'll go back to Playmakers and find out where they get them and I'll post a link for ya'll. If I can't track them down I'll be more than happy to pick some up for anyone, just shoot me an email.

GT2150 question! I have been researching running shoes for quite some time and after much debate, I recently bought a pair of GT-2150's. I have heard you rave about them for so long I figured they must be pretty decent. I was just wondering if you find them tight on the back of your foot initially and if they stretch out with wear. It seems like they pinch at the back/top of the heel. I am still just wearing them on carpet so I can take them back but I really want to give them a try. I broke my ankle several years ago and I think a stability shoe would greatly help me. I see you just got a new pair so I was wondering if you had the same experience. Any thoughts? I won't hold you liable :) Thanks!

Good luck going back-to-back!

When I moved into my current place, not going to lie, I was really darn excited that I was < 1 mile from 3 different great running routes. Priorities for sure.

Glad to see you're back at it. Hope the back-to-back plays out well.

Love the 'FML' as the low-end of the enthusiasm scale. I've been to that place before. It's not a nice neighborhood.

So, I could comment on all of these..... but can I say that the "Baby RJ - Pic o' the Moment" looks like he is about ready to get down and breakdance at any second?

Yay for running 2 days in a row!!!

...and thanks for your tip on the 2 websites!! I use Daily Mile, but only to track workouts. I haven't ventured too far out of that realm, so I'll have to check it out!

Well thanks to your Daily Mile buddy over there, I can see that the double-run WAS :) Yay!! That runner's envy is totally normal, don't you worry, and will only fuel your comeback in the best way when those legs are ready!

OH SHOOT SON....MORGAN IS ON A COME BACK! "Pleased" uh! let's keep moving in this direction. And streight up...I've gotta get some push-ups for my sneakers.

This is interesting to me. My son has horrible arch and ankle problems and wears something similar to those cutlets. Also, those are the only shoes he wears!

Commenting backwards so I already know you got to run your 5 Wed (today) So glad your back!

I'll do better about commenting. My phone doesn't like it on some blogs and my computer is a major slow pain in the butt.

Hi! I noticed you're using the GT2150. Was wondering if you have a review for this on your blog? I'm about to switch from mizuno to this so wondering if it's really nice. I'm overpronated by the way so I really need stability shoes =)
