- Running: Yesterday I logged another run and continue to feel Hopeful of making a full recovery. I must admit however I am still in utter amazement that these arch cutlets have seemingly solved a problem that has long stumped professionals and plagued my life to the point of having to give up on training.
- Racing: Sunday is the Capital City River Run and obviously there's no way I could possibly run the Half so alas, another race that wasn't. I had toyed with dropping down to the 5k but after consulting Coach EK we agreed that I'm not ready for that scenario. Between the adrenaline and crowds it'd be hard to avoid falling prey to the excitement and pushing myself. I need to be taking it easy and focusing on recovery to avoid re-injury so instead I was given the all clear to attempt a nice and easy "long run" of about 4.5ish miles. I'll take it!
- Support: Since I won't be running Sunday I have decided to join my new DM friend and spectate her husband as he races his way to a PR. I'll also be cheering from afar for a few of Spike's friends and Viper as they hit the streets of Akron for the Akron Marathon.
For those of you Chicago bound folks, I just want to remind everyone to take a deep breath and relax! Taper can be maddening but you just need to believe in your training and yourself!

it sucks missing races but believe me, you'll come back so much stronger and it will all be worth it.
YAY for arch cutlets!
Happy they are working for you. :)
It always turns out to be the simplest thing, doesn't it? So happy that you seem to be on the mend! Enjoy the miles and spectating this weekend!
I am so glad you are finding something that works and are able to start running again :) I know how frustrating it can be to stand on the side lines but I think you are doing the right thing!
Glad to hear you're getting out there and healing while still running.
Good luck and better to be too slow on the recovery path than too fast.
OMG how did you know I was freaking out?! You psychic. :) My 20-miler went well. But taper has been failure so far. I haven't been able to run because of work all week. Yikes! Good luck on your longish run!!
hip. hip. HOORAY! so glad that you're still feeling great. fingers crossed for a swift and strong recovery!
fingers crossed that you continue on your road to recovery. I'm wundrin' if I stuffed those cutlets up my nose if they'd get rid of the stuffiness?
...yeah...ummm...obviously NOT the ones that were in your shoes.
I'm Chicago bound, and my fiance who was supposed to be running with me, just fractured his foot during yesterday's run (UGH, the timing! He deserves to cross that finish line too!). Looks like I'll be running solo -- how do you work in switching your mind from a solo run when all your training runs were with company?
Yay for arch cutlets solving the problem (or at least for seeming to solve it!)
i'm not at all surprised by #1, how no one could figure it out. I had a simliar thing with my shoulder when i was in high school. i went to doctor after doctor and no one could figure it out just because every test came back negative. i went to a PT and she told me it was my bicep, i follwed her advice and was better in weeks! people need to think outside the box yo :-)
glad the cutlets are working for you!!
So happy you are on the mend and running!! It does stink to not run - makes us thankful for the times we can run pain free!! Hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks for the support. Hope you continue to heel. Cheers!
Ill be working the ORS booth at the expo Saturday! Come say hi!
That's great news that you are able to run with the arch supports!
I'm so happy to hear that you are doing better! It is amazing that it would be such a simple fix.
YAY! for Playmakers (their counterpart in Grand Rapids is Gazelle) and their awesome FREE injury clinics! They are just so helpful and enthusiastic in whatever questions you flood them. I am Chicago bound and I reread your Chicago marathon recap the morning of my 20 miler. I got so excited! Not sure how to do this taper thing, but I definitely am questioning my training. Gosh, I want to finish strong and I really want to not forget to have a good time. Glad you are out there running. Take it slow and you will conquer once again. (Never thought I would ever be running at 3:45am to get in my miles before work, ugh!)
You lost me at "logged another run". So happy...so happy...
That's all!
yay for being on the mend! so happy for you. i know how fantastic it feels to start running again after injury!
So glad the arch cutlets do what they are supposed to do! :)
Yeah, good call on the no-go, even for the 5K. Those crowds really get you going – you’d hate to set yourself back.
