3 Things Thursday

  1. Don't forget, you have until the end of today to enter my "Giveaway of Thanks" to win a Cafe Press SIGG Water Bottle!!!

  2. Last night I attempted Run #2 on my "Return to Running" and well... I won't be returning to running after all. Guess this means the new shoes I picked up in Florida won't be logging any miles anytime soon either. I promise I'll talk about this in depth later but right now I just need a few days to process, accept, figure out a plan of action and maybe cry a little.

Beaker Luv's "Welcome back to Florida"
(She picked up some gear we had called in to Track Shack and supplied pre-run breakfast for Spike's run in the a.m.)
I told ya'll I lived off Publix cookies the entire weekend!

  3. You know what else happened last night? I got my first dose of Fall! The evening was crisp and clear and a little too chilly for this thinned out Floridian blood. It's only September! While I'm wholly excited to see the leaves change for the first time in 10 years, I shiver at the thought of how cold its about to get... did I mention I don't own any closed toed shoes (besides running shoes) nor do I own more than one sweatshirt or a winter jacket. Good thing my birthday is coming up, cuz this Redhead needs a new winter wardrobe!

Tune in tomorrow for the winner, winner, chicken dinner of the SIGG water bottle giveaway and maybe some pics from my trip to Florida to brighten everyone's day??!?!

Hang in there! I went to playmakers and was told to quit running cause of a possible meniscus tear. I have had a couple good cries, but now I am thinking of only what I can do to work forward! Good luck!

I'm LOVING this weather but I can see how it would be a shock to your system. At least you have a good excuse to go SHOPPING!

BOO BOO BOO on the return to running fail. I was rooting for you so hard. {{big hugs from Ontario}}

I think I'm experiencing a return to running fail too. My knee still hurts after Tuesday's fiasco. *sad face*

I won't lie...my legs felt a little crampy after reading your update. :(

Take care of yourself, Red!

Be kind to yourself and enjoy the day! I need to shoe shop myself. I am in the same boat, as you, when it comes to close toed shoes. Best of luck in finding a few fun pairs of shoes.

Dang it! Try not to shed too many tears. Just think of it as one season of your life...kind of like this new season that is going to freeze your tush. Have a happy Thursday!!

Publix. I love it. One of these days I will post about the grocery stores in NY and the temple that is Publix. Having also just returned from Florida, I honestly might have spent more time in Publix than at the beach.

I am so sorry! That sucks!

Evolving Through Running said...

Sorry for the setback - hang in there.
Publix is the big-dog to which all other grocery stores aspire. Love that place.
Enjoy the cold ... embrace the cold ... seasons are a GOOD thing.

Not another bump in the road! Oh well, it'll only make you stronger. Those cookies look amazing. Want.sweets.now. Haha.

You need to get on a bike or into the pool. I am telling you the cross training will help improve your running and overcome your injury.

Katie said...

lots of hugs from your virtual aquajogging bud. this no running thing sucks the big one. :(

but - COOKIES - are amazing. that is all.

Sorry to hear your return to running was so short :(

I can't believe you don't own any close toed shoes! You better get shopping for a warmer wardrobe!!

Heather @ Dietitian on the Run said...

So sorry to hear a run-gone-wrong :( But at least it sounds like you're listening to signs from the Bod and being smart about things...

I had a laugh about your wardrobe worries for Cooler weather - you are definitely not going to survive w/o a winter jacket! I could tell a few similarly embarrassing/freezing tales from my first winter at Penn State. UGH. Go get a jacket! Floridian Redheads must keep warm ;)

Girlie, I am SO sorry you are still dealing with injury. That stinks plain and simple. As athletes we let our running define us. You are SO MUCH MORE than running! And believe it or not, you'll be running again. Your body just has to do it's thing, as frustrating as that is.
Hang in there.

We have had a taste of fall here too, but alas it is shorr lived, saw that it will be in the 80's again by the weekend - boo!

Hang in there my friend - it's not forever, I promise. You're a smart woman and runner, healing takes time. Cheer up! And a big big big HUG to you! :)

Sassy Molassy said...

Lord lady, you are going to need some serious warm clothing and shoes! Especially with how small you are. Think wool coats, wool sweaters, lots of layers, scarves, boots, ugh! It's hard enough to stay warm in Oregon. Good luck in Michiganer! ;)

I so envy your taste of fall. :)

The leaves have already started changing here in the Last Frontier. Apparently winter starts much sooner around here, and it's literally just around the corner...and I'm in Alaska, with the same problem as you. No closed-toed shoes, no winter jacket, no sweatshirts...yikes. I need my first paycheck pronto!

Annnnnnnnnd....OH NOS!!!!!! Leg gremlins are back?! We. Need. To. Chat.

Spike said...

Baby, there is only one way to make you feel better...let's go shopping.

Adam said...

I'm not even going to mention the running...... SUCK

Cookies for breakfast? Yes please!

Jesse said...

On top of getting winter clothes, you really need to get a remote car starter for your vehicle if you don't already have one. Makes winter life so much better (unless of course you have a garage that you can actually park a car in, in which case I'm jealous).

Lauren @ girlwiththepinkhat.blogspot.com said...

I love the Fall it is my favorite season!! I am sorry to hear about you not being able to run!!!

lindsay said...

that's not a weekend supply of cookies - more like a serving or two.

what happened on the run? maybe you could really break it down and run every other day, or even less often than that? unfortunately you need to take it slower than you think, but hopefully you'll be back soon.
