First and foremost, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LUV!!! We celebrated by sleeping in (skipped my recovery run and everything), caught the afternoon Tigers game (they lost) and had uber yummy Sushi before we left D-town.
So back to the subject at hand: Running.
Saturday I had 14 M on deck, 10 of which I'd planned to run with Sun Runner. The weather was particularly craptacular and we had a very busy day ahead of us so I decided to get in the 4 miles ahead of time and took off with Spike at 5:30 am. Because it was rainy I decided to throw on some crappy workout clothes for the 4 M and then I'd change into real running clothes as well as grab my water bottle and Powerbar Gel when I returned and met up with Sun Runner. I tied my key to my shoes, wished Spike a good run and we were off to tackle our respective runs. When I arrived home from the 4 M, my legs not the least bit loosened up and thinking the next 10 M were probably going to suck when I look down at my shoe to grab my... car key? FML. Or rather... FAIL!!!
So I'm soaking wet, wearing crap workout clothes, waterless, fuel-less, phoneless and Spike's somewhere far, far away on his run. When Sun Runner showed up she laughed with me at my misfortune, gave me an extra GU she had (a total life saver!) and we headed over to the Grand River Trail. Not even a few minutes after we leave she realizes she left her Garmin at my place so we laugh again at how the morning is NOT going so great...
The first few miles flew by and just a wee bit too fast! Because I was the only one with the Garmin she didn't know our pace and I figured she was just feeling good so I didn't want to hold her back. When she told me she was feeling sluggish and I informed her of our 8:30ish pace she was like HOLY CRAP! We eased back after that, fell into a nice relaxed pace and just chatted away the rest of the miles. At one point there was a guy in the bushes that kinda creeped us out but other than that, I seriously felt like the run was over so quick! Initially I had thought it was going to be rough but apparently I just needed a 4 M warm up? The rain wasn't too bad either, it was actually refreshing and I got to explore some new parts of the trail. All in all, not a bad run at all.
After the run, Spike made us breakfast, Sun Runner went on her way and Spike and I headed out for a full day of family festivities. I wore the VFF's around for a good chunk of the day, including to a Loon's Game where they were quite the topic of conversation. I'm definitely feeling more at ease in them and they are not leaving my legs as sore. I plan to wear them on a few more walks before I attempt a short run but so far so good.
And with that, Week 4 is officially run, done and documented in the training log. I'm so thankful to have it behind me. For whatever reason, it was a particularly tough week and every run kicked my butt. I'm hoping taking an extra rest day today will give me fresh legs to kick Week 5 off in the a.m.
I hope ya'll had a great weekend! Congrats to all the racers!!! I will be making my rounds ASAP to get caught up.

Congrads on getting your run done!
great run! I might have given up...way to get after it!
Morgan! It's been too long since I've commented on your posts. I'm so out of the loop! But have no fear, my fave blog buddy, I'm back with a vengeance.
You always have me cracking up at your FAILs! Glad the run still turned out great, though.
I feel ya. My last week was rough. Only ran twice. But my feet feel normal again, so this week I should be back at it!
Such a cute picture! I thought of ya when I saw a Michigan license plate yesterday!
It's always an adventure...:)
What was it that guy was yelling? "I want some more of that!" Creepy...
That was a great run and the path is really scenic. Hopefully it won't be the last time I'm there...:)
Definitely sounds like a rough start but glad it went well in the end!
Oh NO, talk about a brutal way to start the run. Good for you getting it done... sounds like some good company helped a lot!
Happy B-day to Spike!!!
eiik so did you ever find the key?!! That kind of stuff always burns me up. Glad yo uhad a good run, sometimes running in the rain is kinda fun an refreshing!
That's awesome that you are able to shrug off your misfortune! Hope you found your car key!
Good job on getting your run done!
Runs like that are what make great runs so great! Everything clicks and works out amazing. Way to push through!
another week in the books - good work!
Great run!! Did you find your key??
So i just happen to be looking at the Gasparilla Marathon and saw that Tampa isn't doing it next year! I was so surprised. Kinda stinks they are not doing it any more!
question of the day: where'd the key go?!
A few bumps in the road clearly didn't deter those legs and their determination for 14 miles ;) nice run!
12 weeks...seriously?! whoa, going quickly!
seriously, how did all of you miss the fact that I made breakfast?!? jk. I'm just glad Sun Rnner was able to quasi save the day!
Yeah, how come there was no key update? Haha! I applaud you for being calm enough to continue on on your long run despite not having water, fuel, phone or your key. Wow! I'm impressed Red! Hope you're recovering well!
good job..even with all the mishap!!
Sheesh, good job on the run and yay for birthdays :-)
YAY! Happy Birthday Spike! :) :) You have been living in MI so long and we havent ran at all! What do you have on deck for saturday?!?! Im in need of a RB for 15.... <3
VFFs yeah? Very nice...I'm glad to see you're doin what the rest of us coolkids are doin!!!
wait wait.... did I miss it? Did you find the car key???
Sounds like a great weekend!
You and your honey go together so well :)
I'm always paranoid that I'll loose my key when I'm running! Did you ever find it?
This is my first comment on your blog, but I have to say that if you guys were at a Loons game, that can only mean you were spending time in my hometown of Midland. I thought I remembered reading a blog about someone running at the Tridge, and now I remember it was probably Spike. Small world, I guess.
A guy in the bushes? Haha... how random!
i am a baby and pretty sure i would have given up after 4! you get a gold star. without a doubt.
You two are too damn cute. :o)
Sounds like it was a busy weekend! Glad your run ended up okay and you were able to laugh it off!
Have you been to Greektown in The D yet? Definitely check it out next time you get there.
