Flashback Friday

Disclaimer: This is a NON-RUNNING related post but highly entertaining nonetheless. All stories and images are circa 2000-2001. There is a good possibility I will delete this post in the near future for its highly embarrassing content so get it while its hot folks!

EDIT: You snooze you loose.

After my anniversary post there were a lot of questions that needed answering, namely the "window incident" so for your entertainment please enjoy this flashback post; back to the good ol' days of college when I was a very colorful digital media student fresh off the farm from Michigan who enjoyed one or ten adult beverages more than necessary....

And with that I give you: Flashback Friday: Redhead Running "The (Non-Running) College Years"

Question: I'm curious where you came up with the name Beaker Luv? Is it the muppet?

The name is in fact derived from the Muppets! Beaker was a character on the show who had this god awful high pitched voice... much like the voice Beaker Luv and I get when we are excited and drunk. Rixy nicknamed us the Beakers and somewhere along the way we got to calling each other Beaker Luv.

Question: What were the weirdest colors you died your hair? You used to be a raver?

That particular point of Rixy's needs to be clarified. I was NOT, I repeat NOT a raver... I just dressed like one. Gwen Stefani was/is my idol and I LOVED being colorful. I never dyed my hair, I did temporary dye my bangs pink once but mostly I just had a bunch of funky colored hair inserts that I would braid or weave into my hair to match my outfits. Kid you not. Please see exhibits below. And don't worry I am laughing with you...

Beaker Luv & I clearly Beakered

Rixy & I - I loved that shirt like no other

Yup that's SILVER braided in my hair.
Tinsle actually; you know like the kind you put on your Christmas Tree.
True Story.

Question: The window incident? (Collective)

Sorry guys... like I said above, you snooze you loose. Removed for content.

You should really go see my video on my page today. It isn't Beaker but it's close enough in my book!

I can't figure out which is more entertaining: the pics or the story!
I'm only laughing because you're okay...or as okay as a person can be after falling out of a 2nd story window!!
Superwoman, I do believe you are now my fav hero!

Oh man! Great stories. Isn't it great to live to tell about these sorts of things? oh, college.

Yasi said...

Oh goodness, the stories we have (some of which we wished we could remember) from drinking are so fun! Granted, there are a great lot of them we'd wish we were blackout so we'd forget!

Awesome story, it definitely deserves one of these.
@dickssportcmo I nominate @RedheadRunning for the #startinglineup because she can fly like superwoman

And this is why I'm glad that I'm 40, when camera phones and digital cameras did not exist as I was doing my own walk of shame. Nice abs, though. ;-)

Hysterical! Thanks for the early morning laugh!

So funny...yea, I have a bunch of stories like that...like the time my TV fell off my dresser in college, and we HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT HAPPENED. We still say it was a ghost!! Or the time we found my friend in the shower with the shower curtain pulled down on top of her...passed out. OH MEMORIES!!!:)

In that first pic, you look like you are 12. Wait, I digress, you still look like you are 12!

I can't imagine if youtube and cell phone cameras had been around when I was in college...

I love Beaker! Never thought I'd see him on a runner's blog. Yay!
Bold hair choices- me likes it! I always liked Gwen's pink hair period.

Kelly said...

Oh my gosh HILARIOUS post. Very glad you posted it. I don't think it will tarnish your image at all, everyone knows what we all did in college. Anyway, if anyone is going to fall out of a window it's totally you. Glad you survived it!

Your retelling makes that painful story funny!

The things you live through!

"There is a good possibility I will delete this post in the near future for its highly embarrassing content so get it while its hot...." LOL hahahahaha. Well, I'm sure glad you DID post it.

So, you looked SOOO young in all of those pics! (even though I am younger than you have have a so called 'baby face') But, I suppose that is because of all of the clean livin' that we all did in college, right?

I seriously laughed out loud at you weaving tinsel into your hair. It is funny how your hair is different shades of red depending on the picture (and what you had weaved in I suppose)

OMG, the window story was soooo good. Those are the best kinds of stories too BTW - the kinds where you do something stupid but have to rely on other people's accounts of it because you have NO idea what went on. I think that we've all had 'em - I know I have (which involved a very cold shower, someone else taking out my contacts, and "sleeping" on a patio - including pictures which will never see the light of day)

Adam said...

LOL - totally just tweeted what Bill said :)

Amanda said...

LMAO!!! So glad I'm not the only one with stupid stories like that. Thanks for sharing. Amazing!

runblackgirlrun said...

OMG!!! I told you, you were a super shero. WTH? I have some crazy binge drinking stories, but that tops all of mine.

Glad you are ok, and hope you learned a lesson about drinking (wait, I sound like a mom.) Take that back, keep drinking, just be sure the windows are closed. LOL!

Jeri said...

omg, I'm so glad you are/were all right, holy crap. that could've been baaaaaaaaaad. cheers to the poor poor decisions we've made in our lives. :)

NY Wolve said...

That is really funny. Brings back many memories of college also. Made me smile, so thanks.

Kelly said...

That story about the window is amazing. Good thing you were drunk! Thanks for the clarification/explination. Happy Weekend!

EZEthan said...

Too funny!!! I think I'd have to create a second blog if I started trying to rehash all the stupid crazy shizzle I did when I was drunk during my college years (all five and a half of them)

Amber (Girl with the red hair) said...
