3 Things Thursday

  1. Not getting to sleep until well after 2am isn't conductive to getting up at 5am to do intervals. Needless to say they didn't happen this morning. Will now have to switch up my running schedule for the remainder of the week to make these happen tomorrow. FAIL.

  2. Saturday night I'm heading over to New Smyrna Beach (or NSB as we locals call it) to visit my friend Harold (who I've been covertly turning into a runner for the last few months) to log an 8 miler, his farthest to date, Sunday morning beachside!!! I'm super stoked as I haven't hit up NSB since my 18 miler with Tall Guy Surfing well before Chicago. Be prepared for running hijinks and photo fun come Monday.

  3. I can not believe Chicago Marathon registration closed on Tuesday! Holy sh*t! I was seriously debating running this again and figured since it didn't sell out until mid-April last year I still had a lil' more time to commit. Notsomuch. Had I signed up, it would have been the first of two Fall Marathons for me but alas now it looks like one it is. This means that I will now spectate the marathon instead and cheer on all my bloggy friends! Yay! Are you running Chicago? Let me know!

Have a great weekend! Rock those races and long runs! Catch ya'll on the flipside!

LOL covertly turning me into a runner, huh? Looking forward to the run this weekend. With you there to keep me in line, maybe I'll actually stick to my intended pace this week instead of going too fast!

bummer about Chicago, but I guess that makes the decision easier for you...

I signed up for Chicago the first day it opened! It is my first marathon and I wanted to do Chicago so bad! I got an e-mail yesterday it sold out in record time! 51 days for 45,000 people...that is crazy!

Too bad about Chicago but I am sure you will have fun watching everyone else run!! Hope you have a good run and a great weekend!

Too bad about chicago. Is there another you might want to try?

Have a great weekend!!

Yuck. It's always disappointing to have your sleep messed with.. then everything for the rest of the week ends up different than intended. No fair. I hope you get back on track. :)

That's too bad about Chicago, too. Maybe next time?

BOO to not getting enough sleep. Hope you can squeeze in those intervals. 5K PR training = HARD!

Have fun running with Harold on the beach this weekend - awesome!!

Staying up late is not conducive to intervals, and try it with a little alcohol on top. Um, no.

Oh wow I didn't realize you missed out on Chi...I figured you had that signed up. Bummer dude and sorry to hear :(

Have fun running with Harold! I love having a fun partner to do my long runs with, especially when the distance is a new one. :)

Too bad you're not running CHI with the rest of us, but I will say spectating looked like a pretty good idea to me at about mile 22 last year...

Sorry about Chi-town, I heard the allure of 10/10/10 drew in the masses. I am in ... will see if finances let me run but for now, I am planning on it. Good luck with the intervals when you get to them :)!

Katie A. said...

Don't worry about Chi-town, you've got lots of other cool marathons to look forward to!
Maybe someday we could run it together ;)
Good luck on the intervals!!

Too bad about Chicago. I signed up on Feb 1.
It will be my BFF's 10th marathon. on 10/10/10.

Intervals on 3hrs sleep would be no fun!!Yuck I don't blame you for skipping them.
Have fun in NSB can't wait to see the pics
Bummer about Chicago...I am planning on being a spectator there too, I have several friends running it!

Baystate Marathon Oct 17th!!! It's a Boston Qualifier and is super flat and fast. Get Spike to sign up too.... :-) Good thing I'd already crossed Chicago off my list or I'd be SO DISAPPOINTED!

PS - I've officially gained back the weight I lost marathoning. Time to start training again.

Hmmm, perhaps Four Fables Friday will let us in on the 2:00 AM bedtime...

Amber (Girl with the red hair) said...

2:00 AM!!! Ew. That's just a gross time to be up and sober. Definitely not conducive to intervals. Oh well, you'll figure it out ;)

sunapeegirl said...

Wow up till 2am and awake at 5am, I don't know how you do it. Sorry you missed out on Chicago..

TallGuySurfing said...

So what's the other fall marathon you intend to run??? You still have to come over to NSB sometime when I'm actually in town, or up to the 'ville and run some trails with us.... asphalt sucks! :-) Oh and I've got some really killer muddy buddy training routes worked up if you're interested!

feetinmotion said...

Oh wow that was a fast registration!!

Jeri said...

I'm debating chi town 2011. You should just hit it up then with me. :D

That totally sucks! I signed up to run a half in Louisville for the Derby and I ended up getting hurt and cant run it.

There is however a really cool half at Myrtle Beach this fall. I think its called the Myrtle Beach half. Once I recover Im so there

must slow down when I read, at first I thought you were doing an 18 miler this weekend and I was like WHAT??

I had a bunch of folks ask me to do chicago but I just didn't sign up...hoping for a different much larger trip in october

The Laminator said...

Ah man, I thought I was covertly convincing you to run Chicago with me? No, not so much! At least, maybe we'll get to meet up beforehand anyways...

Good job in getting your friend up to speed on his long runs! I guess that's what Gorillas do after they snatch up all the bananas and all the medals.

Have a great weekend!

Don't you love converting friends into runners? It always makes me so proud.

EZEthan said...

I hear you... I just got back from the gym where I did a 6X400 workout at 10:45 at night... now I'm all worked up and somehow have to get to sleep!

Priyanka said...

Not this year but the surely the next. I'll be based in Milwaukee then so no excuses!

Running Kiwi said...

Yeah, 3hrs isn't much sleep - I get home at 1am from work and manage to get up at 6.30 if I need to - but that's as early as it gets ;)

Bummer about Chicago, I bet you will still have fun there though.

Have a good weekend!

Laura said...

I was considering Chicago too and was actually planning to sign up THE DAY it closed! Such a bummer.

That same thing happened to me when I went to register for the Traverse City Half. I had to settle for the 10K instead....

I've been having the same issue with sleep lately...except I don't want to get up because I am in a super deep sleep when the alarm goes off.

Robin said...

Yep - that happened for the Disney Half in January... had to do the Princess instead. Also, this Turtle Runner will be doing the Chicago HALF Sept 12.... don't think you'll be in regional spectating mode yet(???). Have fun in NSB this weekend!

Yeah, sometimes I wish more time would be given to notify people about marathon updates.

I just found out the bay to breakers is in May, yet I have still not seen any advertisements about this. wtf?

irunyourun said...

I'm running Chicago! It'll be my first marathon!

Now I'm also debating if I should run the Marine Corps too, which is 3 weeks later, since I'll already be trained for it.

I must be going nuts...

Adam said...

Isn't that crazy about Chicago? I was on runners wold forums and everyone was bitching about how expensive it is now... but then someone countered with "well, since it sells out so fast, you would think that they shoudl raise the price more!" Lets all hope that chicago doesn't catch on.

Sam Felsenfeld said...

Bummer about Chicago!

I'll be there ... you have an alternate?

Denise said...
