Caution: Redhead Running - The Anniversary Edition

Today is the one year anniversary of this blog; Caution: Redhead Running. One year ago today I wrote my first post about being 19 days away from my first Half Marathon (Gasparilla Half Marathon) and had no idea how the next year of my life would play out... Fast forward to today and I am 18 days away from my second Marathon (Gasparilla Marathon) and after the adventures of this past year, I can not wait to see what's to come!

I thought about how I would mark this occasion, I toyed with doing a similar design to how I celebrated my 100th post (aka 100 things about/of me) but then I thought why not mix it up a little? So I asked a few of the main characters featured on this blog to send me 20 random things about themselves and 5 random things about me, anything goes. What better way for you to get to know me better than to get to know the people I love, see why I love them and why they love me! So settle in cuz this is a long one but totally worth the read. *Hint, Hint*

Introducing the cast of Caution: Redhead Running

Featuring:

THE BRUNETTE aka Dawn/My Beloved Bike Pacer/Owner of Ellie Smelly
Years Known: 2+ -
Current roommate & one half of our little old married couple

20 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT THE BRUNETTE:

1. I absolutely LOVE condiments, especially salad dressing. I normally have at least two different varieties in the fridge plus another two in the pantry as backup. <- Kid you not this girl will choose condiments over real food.

2. I have never been in a relationship longer than a year. Some view this as a negative thing but I view it as the marker that I know when a person is wrong for me or vice versa (see number 16).

3. I have only seen my grandmother three times in my life but we write letters every month to each other and have for years.

4. My best friend and I have been B.F.F's since we were 3...that means 24 years.

5. I always go with my gut feeling. It's never failed me to date.

6. I love music and the way it makes me feel, emotions it evokes and its ability to bring back memories unthought of instantly.

7. I could live without a t.v. and be perfectly happy.

8. I read book after book after book. Funny thing is I never read when I was younger-I hated it. Only after getting sick did I start reading obsessively (see below, number 9). All time favorite-The Five Love Languages.

9. I do not have a gallbladder. It stopped working so they yanked it out.

10. I have cadaver tissue in my mouth. **I feel dead people** <- AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

11. I have had a rust spot on my eye and had to have a doctor laser it off when I was younger. I got it from hammering rocks on the driveway.

12. I have traveled to Paris and yes, it was amazing.

13. I have a slight (meaning monstrous) obsession with MAC cosmetics <- True Story.

14. I have never sung karaoke. That would just be mean to other human beings.

15. I always try to do the things that I fear the most or that create the most self doubt.

16. I believe that too many people settle for things in life-whether it be a relationship or job so I don't settle. Ever.

17. I believe that there is such a thing as soul mates (although I do not know if I would call it that) and know that one day I will find mine. Until then I'll continue dating all the wrong people. For less than a year of course.

18. I love high heel shoes. I can run in heels better than I can walk in flats. I'm 6'0" and I still rock the 3" stilettos, no problem. <- Let me tell you how awesome it is to stand next to her when we go out with my midget @ss.

19. My favorite thing to do is to drive on the highway with all the windows down, sunroof open with the music blaring, singing at the top of my lungs.

20. I am not scared of dying.

Do you see how tall she is compared to me???

Here's what you gotta do:
  1. Do NOT post this on your blog. Around here I like to keep things in the family.

  2. Leave a comment with the favorite thing you learned about either one of the crew or myself

  3. Ask a question of any item or person.
(Sometimes I run out of material and that would make for a great post in the future!)

You do not have to leave seperate comments for each, feel free to combine.

I will be accepting submissions until 3 Things Thursday morning. (2/11/10) Then all bets are off and I will draw a winner based on a random.org selected number for the handy dandy excel spreadsheet of entries. Winner will be announced during 3 Things Thursday. I'm not going to get the prize stash until after I know who's won because I want to tailor make it but I promise it will be worth your time.

Thanks for reading everyone. It's been an amazing year and I can't wait to share with you the adventures of the next. Catch ya'll on the flipside...

Wow this was such an awesome and fun post to read! I am almost at my one year anniversary too and it's crazy!!

Okay my favorite thing I learned is that you DO in fact do sit ups to get your abs hahaah. I thought that was a funny touch :)

Really it's just fun to read about people we hear so much about!

I laughed out loud at the falling out of a second-story window. What a great list. Having the info from others adds a fun perspective. Happy Blogiversary.

Love the idea behind this post. I made some great friends in college and haven't seen them in a while. This makes me miss them so much!!!

I love that you don't seem to dig dressing according to the brunette and she loves condiments. This was like my roomate erin and i. She would make ketchup sandwhiches and I wont TOUCH ketchup.

such an amazing post. this has absolutely made my morning and having you, Ebs and the rest of the crew come into my life has been the best gift anyone could ever ask for. it always amazes me how life takes us down winding paths and along the way we find others that mirror our passions for life. I am so blessed each and every day to have you be a part of mine. here's to the next year and everything that it entails :)

Denise said...

that took guts. I'd be scared to let my friends post things about me.

This was a brilliant idea for an anniversary post. I just knew you were the perpetually happy type! The falling out of a window sounds like a story worth telling. My one question is this: Is Ebs referring to Dave Matthews? Last thing: my college design partner and former roommate is 6"4; I'm 5"3. 'Nuff said.

This cracked me up...Rixy wins of course, but I'm not suprised. Happy one year anniversary of posting, thanks for keeping me entertained at work when I'm stressed out or can't figure something out! I have to tell you I totally picture you OCD-ing an excel spreadsheet for your contest :) Love you!!!! And the other girls too!!!!

Happy blogiversary!!

I loved reading what your friends thought about you.

So you don't have the redhead temper I take it.

My hubs was sitting here and saw your header and said it was me LOL! I have those clothes too he says??

I like that you were a raver and had some odd hair colors I take it.

Mike is also jealous that you can run year around as we are staring at 2 feet of snow.

Harold B Photography said...

LMAO @ Ebs' leopard underwear comment! I don't believe I've ever heard that story....care to share? haha!
And I love how you used the laser dot picture for Riki....I remember that night :)
I found out last week that Riki hates the word panty when I used it in an email. After reading this post and seeing that as her number 17, I promptly sent her an email consisting of panty over and over...LOL!!

Jenny: Happy Blog Anniversary! Isn't it crazy how much has changed? I love you!

Bloggers: Thank you for helping Jenny out with her journey and giving her so much support!

Morgan! I love this post. So creative.

My favorite facts:

1. That you fell out of a second story window ... really? I would so love to hear the story behind that.

2. And all of Rixy's list - that girl is hysterical. Especially, the eggcorn thing. I almost fell off my chair.

OK, I want to know, if you could convince everyone in your crew to run a race with you which would it be and why (I'd like their opinions on it too)? And would you coordinate outfits?

Happy Blog Anniversary!

You know, my blogverssary is Friday! We seriously started this a year ago and almost to the day we will be meeting! Aw- friendship love story.

I think the Brunette and I are going to get along great! I love her thoughts about not setting and about doing the things in life that create the most self-doubt. LOVE! Maybe she can give me a crash course on make-up...something I am admit I am poor at applying, sadly.

Oh and I totally dig the easy give-a-way thing...I am doing a very easy-breezy one myself this week!

Jamoosh said...

Well, now I know why you don't return my calls!

Happy Blogiversary! I love this post! AWESOME idea and what a fun way to get to know you a lil better.

Have to say, I'm intrigued by the leopard undies! LOL!

Many things didn't surprise me - how thoughtful you are, cheerful all the time, popcorn for dinner, camera with you always. I would have to say my FAVORITE thing I learned is that you don't love dogs...except your roomie's dog! I'm like that with cats. NOT a fan, but I am in love wth my parents' cat, who happens to be a stuck up a-hole.

Question: Where do you see yourself another year from now?

Amanda - RunToTheFinish said...

Yet another highly creative post, i love it!

ok seriously leopard undies that you show off? :) I thought hearing about you from your friends was great!

I am quite envious of your long term friendships. What do you think has helped you all to stay so close?

The Happy Runner said...

Happy birthday! Love the friends profile/thoughts of you. Very cool!!

Libby said...

Oh my gosh, I love this post! What an interesting way to learn more about you.

I love that your roomie is so tall, and still wears heels! I'm 5'10" and love wearing heels but I get some nasty comments sometimes. Luckily the boyfriend likes it and can handle it-he's 6'3". I once dated a guy who was 5'4"!!!

So, I think I figured out that your first name is Jen-is Morgan your middle name or last name? Or just a name that everyone calls you- or am I totally wrong haha

What are your ultimate running goals? Good luck at the half and Gasparilla!

After reading this, I am most curious about:
The fall from the window.
I am most touched by:
The fact that your friends think you will be a great mother someday. That is the best compliment anyone can ever get. And according to what everyone said about you, I'm sure it is true. With any luck, you'll keep those great abs.

Wow! You've accomplished so much in the past year! Let's see...
I love the brunette's dog! But I have a thing for wrinkly dog faces (I do have a basset hound).
Your friends are all gorgeous!
Tell us the story about falling out of a two story window...

Morgan said...

@Everyone: Window incident to come in future post.

As for the leopard print underwear story... see Rixy & Ebs were being uber loud one night, drunk on the porch and I had worked both jobs and was tired and had to work both jobs again the next day. Well about 2 am I finally can't take their wailing to the music anymore so I come out in nothing but leopard print underwear, arm held over my boobs to yell at them only to find that it's not just them... it's the neighbor boys too! FML! So yeah... they all just LOVE to tell THAT story. Lesson Learned: Wear clothes to bed during your college years.

I learned a ton of things from this post!
The one that struck me the most was from Beaker Luv when she said:
"I do not know how I will live without Morgan if she moves away. <- Stop making me feel guilty!!! :("
Are you thinking about moving from FL to be closer to Spike? I totally understand that dilemma...it's a hard choice, but I hope you can find peace with the right answer for you!

April said...

Happy Blogiversary! What a wonderful and creative way to celebrate! It is obvious that you are loved, you have a fantastic circle of friends!
Hilarious that Rixi thought "Copping a feel" was "Copping a field" and "acorns" were "eggcorns"! So funny! I bet she would be a hoot to hang with.

You are obviously a "lifer", someone who makes friends and keeps them for life, what do you think is the catalyst that keeps your friendships strong?

Katie A. said...

And this is one of my faviorite things I learned about you:
"I love watching her experience new things. She still has a child’s enthusiasm and can enjoy the small things that most of us take for granted."
I hope you don't loose that - that is an awesome quality that too many people loose!
Thanks again for the post! Happy Bloggy Anniversary!

I love that you are always scarily cheerful. I get that from reading your blog.

I am the eternal optimist, too. My friends know something is terribly wrong if I don't have a smile on my face.

I also love that the brunette has never been in a relationship longer than a year. I have three times (never more than 2 years), but I was settling all three times.

My question: What does Ebs use on her hair to make it so gorgeous?

This post was the best! You have amazing friends and it seems you have them because you are a pretty amazing person to them! I am glad that I have gotten to "know" you even if it is only via this blog world. I love to be around genuine people.

Happy Blogiversary!

look at all these cheaters not asking questions!!! i mean i am leaving this comment and at the time there are 38 people above me and only 11 asked a question... i win by default. plus random.org cheats anyway. i'm good with a life time supply of m&m's. see, i'm easy to shop for so you can just hit up the post-v-day candy sales on monday.

soo... are you going to cheat and give all those people an entry even though they didn't ask a question?

i do not check my voicemails either. i know it doesn't take a lot of effort but it's just annoying to me. if you want to tell me something, send a text. i just hate actually checking my voicemails. sometimes i actually get tired of seeing "23049834 new messages" on my phone so i pretend to listen to them so they go away.

this was very fun. please don't bring your leopard underpants to boston though. why does everyone from michigan move to florida? hmm probably because it's cold and sucky up north and you should not move back in that direction! just my $0.02.

what is the most spontaneous or randomest thing you've ever done?

oh yes and happy blogbirthday/bloggiversary!

and I want to know about you surviving a fall out of a 2 story window! I know you are going to have a million people asking that lol.

This is the coolest post ever!!!

My confession is that I skipped through to what your fiends had to say about you, because as I've read your blog, I assumed that'd be the funniest part I was right =P

However I did eventually go back and read the rest...So I will say that #10 from the Brunette was my favorite comment. It also made me throw up a little in my mouth, but who am I to judge the insides of other peoples mouths?

Oh, and inquiring minds want to know, if Ellie is REALLY smelly?

Congrats on your year, REDRUN Bad A$$!!!

This was a fun post! Thanks for sharing all that with us.

My favorite thing I learned was that the Brunette's favorite book is the Five Love Languages. I've not read it but heard a lot of things about it. I think I may have seen the author on a show or heard him on a radio show or something, but I think that's some very interesting stuff. I've been meaning to get that book (the MEN'S edition) but I don't really read a lot... maybe I'll get the audiobook and listen to it while I run. Hmmm...

The thing that struck me the most about you is how you don't return voice mails. My brother is the same way. It's infuriating sometimes. I feel for your friends... however, it seems like it's not a secret or anything so they shouldn't be surprised.

I'd like to ask a question of the Habib: did the eggcorn fall on you during the El Nino while you were copping a field of the leathery armor-shelled barracuda? :)

Great post, all Michigan fans. My question: what will Wolves do this year and does Rich Rod get another year after this? Who coaches the Wolverines in 2011?

The brunette and condiments, haha. I though my ex roommate was the only extreme condiment lover out there. She had a quite a collection.
I want to hear more about you falling out of a second story window!

I loved Rixy's list. She made me laugh the most and I really enjoyed reading the things/words/phrases she got mixed up, due to much of her time in India (I'm going to assume)

I'm curious about how you came up with the name Beaker Luv? Is it the Muppet? :)

Great post. I love this idea! The best (serious) thing that I learned was that you have a number of wonderful friendships. You all seem to be a great group. My (other) favorite thing is that you might be a ninja.

I would like to hear more about Rixy's gnome and its travels.

Wow! I learned (and would love to know more) that you fell out of a second story window!

Congrats on the 1 year anniversary! I love your blog!

Great post! Its obvious how close you all are! I think the funniest part to me (beside falling out the window) is that you used to match you pants with your hair! Too funny because we know you as redhead.

Congrats.

Super cute post! My favorite thing I learned was that you used (maybe still do? lol) eat popcorn for dinner, I'm totally guilty of that myself. And for a future post, I would definitely like to know your ab routine. :)

Happy anniversary!!!

I find it interesting how many people you've convinced to move to Florida from the great state of Michigan:)

Do tell the story of you and Beaker Luv:)

That was a really great idea! I love reading about so many different things about people-kinda quirky I know. I didn't realize how big of a crowd you rallied out of Michigan! And I too dislike the word 'panty'. Bleh. Happy 1year

I know I already congratulated you on FB but maybe it'd be more official if I did it here!

Congratulations on your blogversary Redhead! I'm glad I didn't chase you away with my awkward Gorilla comments and we're still good virtual pals! I wish you lots more PRs, lots more friends and lots more blogversaries to come.

You're awesome! Congrats on the big achievement!

I can't believe you have only been blogging for a year! You are so popular it's like you're Molly Ringwald or something ... seriously.

I would like to hear more about this fall from a 2 story window or whatever that was about!

I read this post when you first posted it from the phone but now I'm finally getting around to commenting. Just thought you should know that I do stalk you and read everything. I'm still here ... in scary stalker voice.

This was such a great read. I love the eggcorn and armadillo stories. LMAO!!!!! Sounds like you have awesome friends :-)

Such a very cute post. You have such a wonderful team of people around you, and it's fantastic to learn more about them and the great friendships that you have.

I love that your besties are so much taller than you - I've felt like the odd tall girl out lately, so it's nice to know there's some love for us tall girls too.

And now that you've shared this information of the leopard undies, we're going to need more stories about those...

Almost marathon time again!!

This was a really cool idea! For some reason, as I was looking at all of the pictures (the guy thing to do for sure) I was thinking to myself. Yup yup yup, these all seem like FL pictures, and then I saw the picture with all of the snow. WHaaaaa?

Adam said...

LOL - sooooo, after looking at the pictures and reading everything, I realized that there was a contest! :)

Lemme see.....
Don't post - check.
I've always spelled Habib, Habeeb. Hmmm....
Fav things were about not knowning to peel an onion, copping a field, and eggcorns. ":)
Question: The (very tall) brunette said that you never go anywhere w/out your camera....What is your favorite picture? (hardest.question.ever)

PS, I LOVE that you have a tag called "beaker luv"

Maureen said...

Too funny....I wanna know how you fell out a window!

TallGuySurfing said...

Awesome Awesome Awesome! Happy 1-year mark! Hoot Hoot! I'm totally stealing this format from you sometime in the future! A few notes:
A.) I find it freaky that the Brunette is not afraid of dying. I would not get in a cockpit with her.
B.) Leopard undies? LMAO!
C.) Yay Rixy and the famous laser dot picture from my house!
And my favorite thing I learned about you is that you "may or may not be a Ninja!" LMAO... gotta love Riki Ra Ra!

Yes I believe this could be IT for Morgan. For two reasons: 1. She can get a full night's sleep when she's with him (she doesn't sleep well with others) and 2. She can spend a whole weekend with him and doesn't get sick of him. Oh yeah, and that he seems like a wonderful guy who treats her like the princess she deserves to be treated as and they are very happy together and complement each other very well!!!! Just the first two were two requirements that I thought she needed given some history!

That was really fun to read. And to hear about the other peeps that you talk about on your blog.

And this, She has a great pair of leopard undies that she will show off if you’re being too loud. <- FML.

I'm assuming it was an evening with some alcohol involved. But sounds like a funny story.

There are too many awesome revelations to pick a favorite, but this one made me laugh: Was a complete raver girl! She use to match her pants with her hair! Just sayin!

I want to know who is going to move, you or Spike? And when??

I loved hearing about your repeat popcorn dinners (I went through that phase!) and your requirement that TV volumes be pumped up.

FML for being so far behind in my google reader. :p Happy one year to your bloggy.

My question: When the heck are we going to sign up the same race so we can meet up? Probably after you move to the Midwest? K sounds good. :D

I love this post! Very cute way to commemorate your blogiversary. It was fun to read all of the facts- your friend Rixy had me laughing out loud at her eggcorn and copping a field comments. I too thought El Nino was the name of a storm until um, two minutes ago when I read that random fact. Woops.
