Please excuse this A.D.D. moment...

  • First and foremost, you guys are abso-freaking-lutely AWESOME! THANK YOU SO MUCH to each of you that donated towards my Operation Jack/Train 4 Autism goal! Not only did I meet my goal, but I exceeded it! The blogging community is so supportive and I am forever indebted to you. I will run my heart out at Gasparilla, dedicating a mile of to each of you. <3

  • Speaking of Gasparilla, The Laminator decided to share with me that every time I write Gasparilla all he sees is Gorilla and thinks I'm Gorilla training. Now that's all I see too. I am not, I repeat, I am NOT Gorilla training. Furthermore neither myself nor B.o.B will be running Gasparilla in a Gorilla costume. Just wanted to clear that up in case there were any questions...

  • Yesterday Jamoosh posted a very informative post about learning to run, found HERE. Go read it RIGHT NOW. Especially all you newbie runner's out there. Seriously, go now. I'll wait.

la-la-la-la... Oh you're back? Ok good... moving on...

  • Bum walks into my night gig last night.
    Me: "Can I help you?"
Bum: "Do you have a plastic bag?"
    Me:
    "No I'm sorry."
    Bum:
*Looks around, gives me the meanest stank eye in the history of man*
    "WELL F*CK YOU THEN B*TCH!!!"
    Me: Speechless.
Server: "Oh no that's the angry bum, what did he say to you???"
    True Story.
    I love working downtown O-town.

  • This morning as I head out to my car with purse and pillows tucked under one arm and wheeling my luggage with running shoes and lunch hanging from handle out to my car with the other arm, I drop the glass of milk I'm holding in my mouth and it explodes all over my luggage, front door and IN my shoes. Apparently I can not multi-task. FML.

Shoes are currently hanging from the "oh sh*t bar" in the back seat to dry out, but here's my question: How do I clean milk out of shoes?!?

EDIT: TMB from Races With Babes told me to rinse them in water and then sprinkle baking soda on them and let dry out. I may have over done the baking soda a bit lot but there's no way my stank shoes need to stink like sour milk on top of sweat!!!

  • 22 Miles tomorrow. Twenty-two. 2-2. I've run that and then some and yet... I still have a healthy dose of fear brewing. I know we'll get it run and done. I don't question that. I guess this just proves that despite finishing a marathon I still humbly respect the distance and that is a good thing.

  • The Brunette is headed out of town for the weekend and I volunteered to take care of Smelly Ellie in her absence. I've been instructed to feed her once in the morning, once at night and to walk her when needed. Keep your fingers crossed I can keep her alive until Sunday.

Have a great weekend ya'll! Rock those races & long runs! Catch ya'll on the flipside of 22!!!

I have no idea how to clean milk out of shoes... sounds like it could get pretty stanky. Good luck with that one!

Marlene said...

This is all kinds of random. :)

Ugh, too bad about the milk. I have no idea what to suggest... hopefully it won't be a problem once they dry out.

As for the bar/bum story... just wow.

Go rock that 22 like you know you can. Have a fab weekend, girlie!

That sucks about the shoes! Try baking soda. It works amazingly for vomit. I know not exactly the same, but they both smell sour. Try it, it should work!

Good luck with the 22 ... I'll be cheering you on while I do my 10 miler on the treadmill!

22 miles!? Wow! I can't wait to hear how it goes :-) Have a wonderful weekend!

Looking forward to cheering you on and taking pics of you PR'ing at Gasparilla!

Good luck with the 22 miler! If you were gorilla training that might be fun! Have a good weekend!

I attend school in Camden, NJ. If you haven't heard of the worst town in the country (in the entire US!!!) look it up. I have bum stories that you simply would not believe!

Oh, and I finally got in together and made my donation. :)

Whenever I see "Gasparilla" I think "Sasparilla," that pseudo root beer soda stuff.

Rock that 22 miler. I'll be doing 12 myself in tit-freezing temperatures with The Boy.

Nasty nasty smelly milk mixed with sweaty feet. Gross! 22 miles-Ughh! Good luck!

RunningLaur said...

eee, good luck on 22 - you can do it!

If you take the insoles out of the shoes, hopefully most of the milk was on them and they can get a good scrubbing. keep the insoles out while everything dries and it'll be a faster process.

Great post! As for the milky shoes...I bet the trick of putting newspapers inside to help dry them out from water would work well, too. But try TMB's suggestion with the baking soday also! Good luck!
You're gonna rock that 22 miler - you are awesome!
Good luck with the pooch, he looks sooo cute!

hey! I found your blog through Amanda =)

I'm doing a big bondi band fundraiser; all the proceeds go to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It would be really awesome if you could let your readers know!

Here are the details...
1) The bands will be $8 including shipping so cheaper than ordering straight from the site! However, if you order more than one, you will get a discount! The more you buy, the bigger the discount!

2) Rebecca (the owner) is sending us a big assortment of the more popular styles but head to www.bondiband.com and let me know which one/ones you want! You can order any of the guys or girls headbands (solids, patterns, phrases, symbols, etc).

3) E-mail me at KatyeRunninAround @ gmail.com with your order! I will give you a total (including any discounts). I will be able to accept checks and paypal (I don’t want anyone mailing cash, too much risk)4) I will ship your order =)Any questions let me know! Please advertise this fundraiser on your blogs! EVERYTHING goes to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

oh baby 22, woot woot!! I am still so sad I can't to Gorilla training, damn the in-laws!

Ellie and Daisy can have a playdate! Anthony is fishing today and tomorrow so let's get together :)

Ewww milky shoes! Better they don't start to stink in your car today. Were they your running shoes? I would put newspaper in them, it absorbs the liquid...they fabreeze the heck out of it.

Mel -Tall Mom on the Run said...

I read it as Gorilla too..LOL!!

Good luck on your 22, you will rock it.

I have done the same thing, I spilled creamer from my lunch pail all over my suit just before a work event. NICE.. UGH!

Adam said...

Crazy bums. Gotta love them.

I'm totally with Lam. I have thought that you were saying Gorilla before too. I'll admit that I was a little sad to read that you weren't going in costume.

OMG @ the milk. Carrying it your MOUTH!? Ha! So, there has to be some trick like getting red wine stains out. Maybe try pouring white wine in there?

Carlee said...

Have fun with the 22. You'll rock it, you gorilla you.

Julia said...

haha! that doggie photo is so cute!
OMG I've had bums say the meanest/weirdest things to me too. One time, i got Moo-ed at, you know, like a cow. I'm thinking it was his mating call?

You will dominate your 22 miler!

Way to go on the Operation Jack donations, that's awesome!! I've still got a long way to go, but, I can do it.

Have a fantastic Friday!

What a face!!! Love Ellie!!

Kathryn said...

Answer to your question: Buy new shoes.

Who wouldn't want new shoes before a 22-miler? That sounds like heaven on a bun, doesn't it?!

Maybe new shoes AFTER the 22-miler...

GeorgiaSnail said...

I'm not a vet(but I play one on TV) but from the looks of that picture it may be too late for Smelly Ellie...are you sure that dog is still alive?

Maureen said...

The only comment I have is...that is the cutest dog! I'm mad jel...I wanna play with him!

Stephanie Nichole said...

omigooosssshhh Smelly Ellis is SO cute... but i hope you know you just ruined all my hopes for my future daughter. Her name was supposed to be Ellie!

Am I pregnant? NO! Am I even married? NO WAY! But still... Ellie was my dream name and now it's shattered!!! THANKS! jk jk it's alright... I'll just make sure she always smells good.

Ummm III think you SHOULD run in a Gorilla outfit because, let's face it, that would make for the most amazing pics.

GOOODDDDD Luck tomorrow for the big2-2. It doesn't matter how long you're been running or how far you've gone in the past, theres always a little "omg" moment before setting out on a long run!!!

OH! If the shoes DONT air out and DO smell give them to the bum! He smells anyways and maybe he'll be nicer to you in the future.

OK Have a great friday and weekend!!!!

Glad you won't be wearing a gorilla costume.

Glad you didn't cry over spilled milk. (sorry had to)

I will pray for Ellie! Although she kinda looks a bit rough already!

ChristieisaRunner said...

Good luck on your 22....and getting the milk stink out of the shoes. I definitely respect that distance and anyone who can do it. B/c I haven't yet.

oh how I love my ellie :) believe me it would be really HARD to kill the dog. I think you and Therese should definitely meet up and have a doggie play date!!!

thanks again for watching the pups

xoxo

Ha! Don't kill the dog! weekend goal #1 - and GO ROCK those 22 miles!! (goal #2 ;) )

Hope you gave the *stank eye* right back to Angry-homeless-man. Oof. What a crazy-a$$...

happy friday!

Alicia said...

Gorilla? Too funny.

Seems a lot of bums are angry. Maybe a plastic bag would've made him happy. Something to think about... :)

Good luck on 22! My legs are aching just thinking about it!

Steel Springs said...

Good luck with the 22 this weekend. Gorilla training would be interesting.

Sarah said...

Glad you figured out how to clean the shoes. I would be dousing them in baking soda too!!

That pup is too cute! Have fun with him. I bet he snores too, right?! :)

Zoë said...

I would throw the shoes in the wash...but since you have to wear them tomorrow AM for a wicked 22 miler, then nevermind. Hope that baking soda works (and I'm sure it will).

Oh, and when I see the word Gasparilla I think of Sarsaparilla for some reason. It reminds me of root beer. You're running in a root beer race!

Rock the run, Morgan!

egb said...

Smelly Ellie is too cute! After you feed her once, you will be her best friend for life (at least my dog is that way). They are easy to please.

Thanks for the note about the powergels. I was nervous to try the fruit flavors, but if all goes well this weekend, I will pick some up! Kick some butt with the 22! You are going to super ready for Gorilla.

X-Country2 said...

Whoa, mean bum! Good luck with teh shoes.

Denise said...

you gotta love an angry bum!

stuff your shoes w/ newspaper...it dries shoes out so fast!

Rachael said...

Since you've already removed the milk, all I have to suggest is to stuff them with newspaper like everyone else has said and then do what I do and stick them near a vent a B.o.B's house (that'll smell yummy) ... remember how I hang mine from the ceiling vent? Hehe.

Ellie is adorable! squishy squish squish face!

You brought your camera right? I want some pictures during this 22 miler. 22 miles is a long way to go and not see anything interesting to take a picture of!

NY Wolve said...

I hate to be a pessimist, but I bet the milk never comes out.

But the 22...wait until you're done. The milk in shoes, Smelly Ellie, none of that will matter. After a nap, a Gatorade, you'll have a smile on your face all weekend. Good Luck!

That Pink Girl said...

Girl you got 22 wrapped up like Santa. Hope your shoes dry out!

ajh said...

What a day. Good luck with the shoes. And what a dog!!!!! Will it want to go for a walk?

Runeatrepeat said...

That milk thing completely sounds like something that would happen to me. Did you cry or just cuss, because running shoes are like one of the most important things to me.

Jen said...

A - gotta love the angry bum. My office is down town, and on 2 occasions I've had crazies come in my building, up the stairs, and in my freaking office to ask me random questions about the gov't. Like WTF? SECURITY!!!

B - LMAO at the multi-tasking fail! I've done it too!

C - I'm glad I'm not the only one afraid of distances I've conquered. I think you're right, a healthy fear/respect for long distance is a good thing!

Cheers to 22mi!

ESH said...

GOOD LUCK with the 22! I know you will rock it and can't wait to read all about it!

I once had someone play a prank on me and smushed bananas into my shoes and underneath all of my car handles. It was dis-gust-ing. They never recovered and I threw them away. Hopefully yours are not also a lost cause!

The Laminator said...

In other words, she's previewing the course this year so she can come back NEXT YEAR and run in a Gorilla costume!

The Gasparilla Gorillas - that is an awesome team name for you and B.O.B.! I think you'll agree!

Jessica Star said...

"Humbly respect the distance." Love it.

lindsay said...

i like random. soo... no love connection with the bum? that stinks :(
