After setting up shop at the 13 mile marker I anxiously awaited my racers. The weather was pretty humid but thankfully for them they had cloud cover to save them face time with the sun. All the runners coming in looked pretty beat and I hoped beyond hope TGS & Melissa weren't feeling as much pain. I didn't have too long to wait before I saw a towering figure coming down the stretch... TGS was running strong and ready to wrap up 13.1!!!
For not running in 4 weeks due to an Achilles injury TGS did great and had an excellent finish! Congrats TGS - Half Marathon Finisher!!!
It seems I have forgotten how to spell. Thankfully, after running 13+ miles, no one really notices a missing "C" so when Melissa came into the track she was happy to see me jumping up and down with my poster for her... Check this awesome pic of her finishing with a HUGE grin on her face!!! Now that's the way to finish a race! Congrats Melissa - Half Marathon Finisher!!!
The coolest part about this race, in my opinion, is that the racers symbolically crossed the finish line at the finish line for the Daytona 500! The entire race was really well put together, they had a great after party, the race shirts were Asic Tech T's and the medals were really kick butt too! I am definitely running this race next year! After the race we headed over to the beer tent so they could enjoy a well earned brew. CONGRATS TGS & MELISSA!!! SO PROUD OF BOTH OF YOU!!!
Make sure you take a minute and check out their respective race recaps later today to congratulate them and read about how it all went down as they both have an inspirational story to tell.
One more pic that I had to share as it's hilarious... it really puts his height in perspective. LOL!

That dude IS tall! And very good looking might I add! :)
You are an awseom spectator, even if your spelling is less than perfect! I need you at one of my races with your cool signs! ;)
love the fiere. when I was a freshman on our high school swim team, i spent 3 hours making a sign for our seniors on senior night: Let's GO Senirs!!!
That does look like a pretty awesome set up!
Wow! that seems like a really cool race :) What a good spectator you are, even if you can't spell! :)
Hahaha, the poster is priceless. But hey, you are a kickass spectator even if your spelling is less than perfect! :) Looks like a REALLY fun race! Congrats to TGS and Melissa!
Wow - TGS really is tall! Haha.
Congrats to both of your friends! Awesome that you headed out to cheer, too. Sounds like a fun race! Very cool finishing on the Daytona track.
spectating is SO fun!!!
He's of a completely normal height in my world. But then again I'm 6 feet tall and the hubbie is 6'5'' so my standards are a bit different lol.
Sounds like a fun day!
Well done to Sylvan and Melissa! You are a great spectator. I didn't notice the spelling either until you said which one was wrong. Next year we'll be at that race fo shizzle!
I love your recap! I'm wishing I had kept the poster for my workout room! :-D Now, I'll just have to print out the picture.
I couldn't help BUT smile: how lucky am I to meet two awesome people at my first half, and have them cheering me onto my finish?!
You both rock the house and you are TOTALLY doing that race next year! :-)
I'm jealous of all the cool races you get to spectate! Nice report!
You are a great spectator - they were so lucky to have you!!
OMG, I totally cracked up at the sign - but you are right, that C is really not important that close to the finish!
Congratulations to Melissa and Sylvan!
awesome for you to go out and cheer them on, even if you did fail with a slight misspelling on the sighn. ;)
As a huge NASCAR fan, I am drooling over the fact that the race ends at the start/finish line....definitely a race I need to run!!
My height is exaggerated by your height! LOL. Thanks again for coming to spectate and cheer us on! You rock Morgan!
I totally thought the sign was in French or Italian or something... It took me like 5 minutes to figure out what was wrong with it...
I totally thought that "fiere" meant something cool in another language:) That's really neat that they finish up on the track.

hahah even all of use didn't realize it was actually mispelled we thought you were this amazing linguist!
you are so fiere!
ok, so i'm a moron and was thinking "why is that girl's name fiere?" and "what does fire have to do with running?"
I agree...no one notices a spelling mistake at mile 13 of a half-marathon anyways! You make a great spectator, little redhead
