You SPIN me right round Baby, right round...

So after last week's blind running date with Therese, I voluntarily was convinced to join her in a Spin Class last night. Now let me just first say that I am not a fan of gym's typically speaking; I always feel claustrophobic due to the pushy trainers and staff and quite frankly I love the fresh outdoors... I need wide open spaces... I can't be contained!!! BUT I've always been curious of this spin class phenomenon so I bit the bullet and decided to give it a "spin." (I crack myself up)

Spin class is no joke.

Within minutes I am sweating buckets as my legs still exhausted from the
18 Miler and Universal/Islands of Adventure trip begged and pleaded to be relieved of this torture. I am convinced the teacher was in fact a Nazi general, with each screamed "ADD A GEAR!!!" I looked to Therese for reassurance... Is she serious?!?!?

60 minutes of hell later... we were done and my legs were made of jell-o. I may run a billion miles a week and cross train on my bike but spin class is def not for the faint of heart! Therese you get my hardcore award for that one!

What do ya'll think of Spin classes? Ever tried one? Think they are created by the devil? Love them?

On a not so completely unrelated note, I totally forgot a guy that I went on one date with last year works as a trainer there and upon entering the gym ran into him. Therese got to witness first hand his creep-tacular stop-in-his-tracks-say-Hello-and-stare... for like 2 solid minutes. UNCOMFORTABLE!!! And he wonders why I never went out on another date with him?!?!?

I'm a huge fan of spin - I used to go 3-4 times a week about a year and a half ago! Now I mostly run and go to spin when I can, but the gym I'm at now offers it at really awkward times so it's hard to fit in sometimes!

hahahahaha. He gets the most awkward award taht is for sure! Silly meatheads. When will they realize we don't care how much they can deadlift!

Love those spin classes, but haven't been in awhile. GREAT workout.

I LOVE spin and have seen a HUGE difference in my biking skills as well as in my leg muscles. I go one (sometimes two) days a week at 5:45...5:45 means I must like it! Keep up with it and I bet your addicted in no time!!

I took some spinning classes last winter (in fact, I think I had a post with that exact same title - ha). It was a love-hate kind of thing. I wanted to die during the class, but felt so awesome after.

I'd love to get back into it, but I refuse to go in gyms in the summer. I'll save it for our yucky Ontario winter!

I'm not the biggest fan of spinning.... Maybe cause its so darned hard! haha. But mostly cause you're stuck inside a dark room and you have to keep going uphill even though the only thing you can see is the person in front of you's a$$. haha.

I bet your legs were tired before even starting spin! I love spin classes when I need my butt kicked. But when I want to slack on my workout they're my worst nightmare!

I enjoy going to spin class, however if the music is bad the class usually stinks!

I wish my gym bad a spin class. Sadly I live in the sticks and it doesn't. Major bummer.

I.hate.spin.bikes. It has nothing to do with the classes, though they are definitely hard. WTF is up with the seats?? A man designed them, for SURE. :- (and the whole seat pad things don't help, IMHO....)

I loved spin class before I became a triathlete! Now, spinning inside bores me! Unfort, I live where it snows, so I spin inside in the winter. Either way, it's a KILLER workout!!

OMg I have done a spin class in college and it was so intense! My legs felt like jello afterward. It is tough stuff!

I love spin. I just got back into it after taking a few years off and it is such a good workout. At my gym they play videos of bike races while the class is going on so you have something to look at. The best is when Lance is riding in the yellow jersey and you feel that you are riding with him.

Thank you for stopping by. I haven't done a spin class, maybe one day.
I agree with you about the gym, though. I hate the treadmill, loathe it. I only go if I must absolutely run and it is too hot outside. I believe, outside running is awesome!

I used to be ADDICTED to spinning. Now I'm trading in my addiction for running. I have yet to run outdoors, and need some motivation to move beyond the world of the treadmill...

Loved the shorts story, really funny. You're right: spinning is tough. Did it once with your Nazi (maybe she moved south?). It's me, Will and a dozen grandmas huffing to the oldies in super conservative Findlay's YMCA. The Nazi said, "I'm using a new song to pick up the pace" -- like I needed to sweat more -- and Pat Benatar's "Hell is for Children" blasted from the speakers. Grandmas cringed as Pat screamed "hell" approximately 173 times. The song ended and the red-faced Nazi commented: "guess I should have listened to that before using it."
