3 Things Thursday

  1. This morning's 5 miler was rough. While I struggled through it I pondered what some of you might do to mentally overcome a tough run. Does Frayed Laces envision Super-Ultra-Mega-Thon victory? (Is there a Super-Ultra-Mega-Thon?) Does Spike envision outrunning Nitmos in a 5k? What imaginary carrot do you dangle in front of yourself to push through those tough ones????

  2. After last week's wildly successful long run with Lazy Runner I've finally convinced him to commit to doing the rest of my long runs with me from now until the Marathon! YAY! *Cue Band* *Cue Confetti* So in keeping with his mission to break me out of my "running rut" (or so he thinks) this week's 18 miler will be done out in Clermont aka Hill Country and on real live, actual trails. I'm a little nervous about this, once again I am risking life, limb and fate to LR aka "he who stirs everything up" and he has made things further interesting by making this a NIGHT run... on Friday! So that's an 18 Miler, at night, on Friday, on trails in Hill Country. Oh the adventures we shall have... Stay tuned for that run recap!

  3. With a good nights sleep after what is sure to be a crazy long run, I am left with a Saturday wide open... what's a girl to do??? I'll tell you what... Islands of Adventure with my beloved Rixy!!! This is the long delayed, much anticipated trip to IOA! I'm so excited!!!

And that is your 3 Things Thursday for this week.

I am the unknowing when it comes to the existence of a Super-Ultra-Mega-Thon. However, I do hope there is no such thing as a Super-Ultra-Mega-THONG!

Just sayin'.

Girl you crazy. Nighttime running through unknown terrain! Bring some bugstray, toilette, paper, beer (hey you never know what could go down) and you should be set!

They are not trails... its a dirt road (about 3 car lengths wide) Youll know when your on the trails ;)

Ok Jamoosh is hilarious. Ultra-super-mega-thong. LOL!

Good luck on that 18 miler. Sounds interesting. I think part of that is what we run for Ragnar.

And I am very jealous of your fun IOA day with Rixy.

Unfortunatley Jamoosh...they do make Ultra-super-mega-thong's and in bikini style. This is only some of what you see when you live near the Jersey shore....ahhhh fashion.

I need to try to remember where my mind goes as a run. It is such a string of connected and unconnected thoughts.

Happy Thursday! Enjoy your fun excursion on Saturday.

yeah night running! if only REM had written a semi-sentimental song about the carefree experience of running at night.

only running will allow you to kiss a Friday night goodbye to a long run without one single regret.

soooo jealous that you have a long-run buddy - think I am going to have to join a running club and actually drive to a meeting place at the crack of dawn. Shudder. It's hard enough to get up and go, but DRIVING someplace first? Not. likely.

I don't think Spike has to envision it. It's a reality.

It's always goo to have a motivator. Look at the race times from the previous years event and visualize yourself beating those just ahead of your goal pace!

First, thank you for your comment on my blog today. :-)

Second, I have to echo Pink Pearls. So jealous that you have a long run buddy! And, wow... Clermont! That is going to be one beautiful run! (though I definitely don't envy the hills!) Here's a thought: After the night run, hit one of the wineries! ;-)

When I'm in "training mode" I think about my upcoming race, that's my "carrot". Right now, since I'm not in training mode, I just think about how good I'm going to feel after my run.

Oh and sometimes I think about chocolate milk. Like last Saturday on my 9-miler in the HOT sun.. I just kept telling myself I had to get back to the car so I could have my chocolate milk! Haha

Enjoy that nighttime 18-miler! I have to say, I've never done a nighttime run before - well I've ran at like dusk before, it's actually nice! But that was in the winter when it still wasn't 35 C (100 F) at 9 pm!!

18 miles on a Friday evening?!?! Have you lost your mind?!?! LOL

5 miles in the morning, wow! I have decided that I want to get in shape and would like to start jogging- It defiantly takes commitment to stick with running and being physically active. You must be the type of person that doesn't give up easily. : )
