12 More Weeks Til the Chicago Marathon

Before I get started here, I think everyone needs to take a moment to check out the race reports and congratulate:

B.O.B (aka Crazy B) on her very first
Biathlon

and

Denise on her first Ultra!!!

B did this Biathlon on a whim at the last moment and ended up having a blast and I have been following Denise for months now as she's put her heart and soul into training for this Ultra. Her race report is an emotional roller coaster and amazingly inspiring. I'm so excited for both of them and think they both deserve mad props!!!

I also want to take a quick second and thank everyone for the advice, support and plethora of comments on my last few posts, ya'll are nothing short of awesome! It's great to know I'm not alone in the boob-loss department (all the comments were hilarious, especially the guys') and the injury is making progress with all the stretches, strengthening sessions and Mr. Foam Roller dates... I will also be making an appointment with a different Orthopedic, a sports Orthopedic, where I feel certain the PT will be knowledgeable of Marathon Distance.

As for the remainder of my weekend after the Sweet 16, I'll be honest, I was EXHAUSTED. I napped a ton on Saturday but actually made it out for 2 whole drinks with the Roomies. I even got all gussied up and wore heels *gasp*!!! Yesterday I xtrained by biking over to my friend Ebs' new digs to help her get situated and move some stuff. After she was settled I headed out and we both noticed how menacing the sky was looking, she offered to take my bike and I home but I told her I'd be fine, what's a little rain? About 5 minutes after I left her house the skies opened up around me and I was DRENCHED... all.the.way.home. At least I wasn't hot right? For whatever reason people gawked at me like I was the strangest sight ever... I mean, what's so weird about a chick in a running skirt hauling ass on a bike in a torrential downpour? I didn't get it, I mean we live in Orlando, have you seen some of the strange things that go on around here? But I digress... Anyway, when I got home I was a drowned rat and apparently smelled like one too as the Blonde and the Brunette informed me I needed a shower STAT. Apparently they didn't get the memo that I never stink, I always smell like roses...

This week I'm back on the training schedule again, but I've decided to tweak it just a bit so that I go into it easy after coming off a week of straight xtraining and no running (except that whole 16 miler...)

Did I mention that it's only 12 more weeks til Chicago??? Did you hear that Spike???

12 MORE WEEKS!!! AHHH!!!

Best of luck at Chicago. That marathon is totally on my list, but never seems to fit into my fall schedule. Maybe next year I will get there.

Take care and best of luck with your training.

Running in the rain can suck, but I'm sure biking in the rain is really no fun at all!

Yay! 12 weeks!

Smart to tweak the schedule a bit. Doesn't sound like you had a fun ride home.

I can only imagine the sketch balls you encountered on that bike ride! South Orange Ave is crawling with them :)

12 weeks will be over before you know it! How exciting...my husband grew up in Chicago and we go back every summer. Except this one of course. So I'm completely jealous!

The hardest part about biking in rain is trying not to get the water in your eyes so you can see where you're going.... not gonna lie, I probably woulda gawked at you too, thinking, dang this girl is hard core!
I agree with taking it easy this week! Its amazing what a bit of rest can do! Ahhhh twelve more weeks! Woo!
